The Emperor’s Children Show Off With New Warhammer 40K Preview
January 17, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop dropped a whole bunch of brand new previews for The Emperor's Children who are making a glorious return to the Grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. New and returning characters make an appearance alongside dedicated troops for the followers of Slaanesh.
Lucius The Eternal // Warhammer 40,000
Leading the way is the fearsome swordsman Lucius The Eternal. Armed with the Blade of the Laer and the Lash Of Torment, he will be a character killer of note. He excels when fighting on his own, chasing down enemy leaders and polishing them off in a duel to the death.
Lucis The Eternals spends most of his time doing what Lucis wants to do and the overall war effort of the Emperor's Children is of little note to him. With that in mind, Abaddon might call on the Lords Exultant to enact the will of Chaos across the galaxy.
Lords Exultant // Warhammer 40,000
These characters can be armed with various weapons which can bring a cruel end to their enemies. You've got power swords, plasma pistols, screamer pistols and more. There are plenty of different components for you to use here to make some unique characters for your armies.
Lords Exultant // Warhammer 40,000
As well as the Lords Exultant, you can also pick up the Lords Kakophonist who bring the noise to the tabletop in a big way.
Lords Kakophonist // Warhammer 40,000
Sonic destruction is their aim and they do so with the use of some seriously interesting kit. It's great that the folks at Games Workshop have decided to go all-in when it comes to The Emperor's Children. This isn't like the revamp of the Blood Angels where we got some middling new releases and odd takes on old classics.
New Elite Troops
Some classic elite troops also join the Emperor's Children on the tabletop. The Noise Marines are back with their demonic-looking sonic blasters.
Noise Marines // Warhammer 40,000
The set can also feature heavy blastmaster cannons and the Disharmonist can be armed with one of the screamer pistols that we mentioned above. This is a great upgrade to the Noise Marines and I think a lot of Emperor's Children fans are going to be happy with these.
The Noise Marines aren't the only elite troops rejoining the Emperor's Children and you can get some melee options in the form of the Flawless Blades who are a dark and twisted version of the Palatine Blades from the time of the Legions and The Horus Heresy.
Flawless Blades // Warhammer 40,000
The Flawless Blades are peerless close combat killers and their forms echo those lithe forms of Slaanesh's demonic servants. They have been gifted with daemonic mutations by their patron but would never stoop so low as to share their form with any other entity like other followers of the Dark Gods. A great new unit and one that I think folks are going to have a lot of fun with.
Emperor's Children Troops
In addition to the elite troops, there are also some new standard troops for the Emperor's Children. Infractors are the close combat killer amongst the Emperor's Children, armed with their brutal sabres and bolt pistols.
Infractors // Warhammer 40,000
They all feel like unique duellists in their own right and I think that the Emperor's Children are a lot of fun for both hobbyists and painters. The mixture of armour and more personalised elements makes them a bit different to paint when compared to regular Space Marines.
Infractors // Warhammer 40,000
Equally, the Emperor's Children Infractors don't seem to have quite as much trim for you to worry about on all facets of their armour. The helmet details are super extra as well which is great fun.
The ranged contingent of the Emperor's Children is made up of the Tormentors who use their ornamented boltguns to gun down their foes.
Tormentors // Warhammer 40,000
Much like the Infractors, they all feel like individual characters with plenty of cruel and dangerous weapons to their name. I like the addition of all the chains, hooks and barbs to help sell the Slaanesh vibe.
New Army Set & Codex
Much like with previous releases, there will be a new Army Set that will be your first chance for you to get stuck into the new Emperor's Children.
Champions Of Slaanesh Army Set // Warhammer 40,000
The Army Set will come with two units of six Noise Marines as well as two units of ten Infractors that can also be built as Tormentors. They are then led by a Lord Exultant who we've seen some of the options for above. The set will also come with all of the new Datacards as well as the Codex for the Emperor's Children. This is a decidedly better Army Set compared to the one we had for the Death Korps Of Krieg.
Codex: Emperor's Children will then be available at a later date in it's normal form as you can see below.
Codex: Emperor's Children // Warhammer 40,000
All of these releases are just around the corner and I think we're going to be getting a few more special Emperor's Children miniatures to sit alongside this Codex. So, watch this space and see where Games Workshop takes the followers of Slaanesh.
Servants Of Nurgle
In addition to the Emperor's Children, we also got to see a few more previews from the world of Warhammer 40,000. One of these was the already spoiled miniature of this Nurgle Champion.
Lord Of Poxes // Warhammer 40,000
The Lord Of Poxes carries a terrifying rusted blade and the rattling engines attached to his back vomit contagion into the air, infesting the lungs of his enemies. Big swords are a win for me, especially in a world of terrifying ranged weapons. It'll be fun to paint the blade and get that rusted look just right.
Cadian Heroes
Last but not least, we also got a look at some Cadian Heroes in the form of Hell's Last. Led by Captain Minka Lesk, this is the cast of characters from her own books.
Hell's Last // Warhammer 40,000
The set comes with Captain Lesk alongside her veteran Command Squad. You get miniatures for Grawnya Ironbrow, Veteran Trooper Jaromir, Commissar Shand and Confessor Talbaes. A solid set for Cadian fans and those seeking some new characters for their Warhammer 40,000 collection.
All-in-all, a solid set of new miniatures for Warhammer 40,000 and a return to form when it comes to army revamps?

The Slaanesh and Nurgle figures look awesome.
Brilliant stuff. Lot of these will work as late-Heresy Emp’s Children, they went very slaanesh very quick.
Well, these are all a bit excessive…
I think that’s the point “Lord of Excess” etc.
they will be excessively priced as well 😉
That’s a given 🤣
Sticky objectives jokes in 3 … 2 … 1 …
I’ll be taking at least 2 sets of Minka & friends thank you very much 🙂
