Deathwing Assault Set Lands This Week For Warhammer 40K
January 15, 2024 by brennon
New Warhammer 40,000 pre-orders are coming up this weekend from Games Workshop. The Dark Angels are getting their first spotlight with the Deathwing Assault Army Set featuring some heavily armoured Terminators and the new miniature for Belial, Grand Master Of The Deathwing.

This set comes with Belial, Grand Master Of The Deathwing who is commanding a force of fifteen Terminators. Ten of those Terminators are the new plastic set that landed with the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, featuring a range of melee and ranged weapons to choose from. A good deepstrike option that will cause some chaos in the back lines of your enemy army.
As well as the regular Terminators, you'll also get five of the close combat monsters known as the Deathwing Knights. This set is themed to match the Dark Angels aesthetic and should serve as a good bodyguard for Belial.

In addition to the miniatures in the set (including plenty of Watchers In The Dark!), you also get the new limited edition version of Codex Supplement: Dark Angels. There will also be a pack of Datasheet Cards covering your Dark Angels miniatures and plenty of transfers to help layer on the iconography. Dark Angels upgrade frames are also included so you can use these on your Terminators or as part of your wider army.
This set will be your first place to get your hands on these miniatures and of course the new Codex but apart from the limited edition Codex, you should be able to get your hands on all of this later on down the line anyway. So, if you miss out, you will be able to field your Deathwing in the future.
As a whole, this Army Set gives me good vibes for the future of variant Space Marine Chapters in the future. I'd warrant that we're going to see something similar for the Space Wolves (my army of choice) featuring updated Wolf Guard miniatures for example.
The Story Continues in Crusade: Pariah Nexus
As well as a new set for the Dark Angels, a new book is also landing pushing forward the narrative in Warhammer 40,000.
Crusade: Pariah Nexus // Warhammer 40,000
As the story for 10th Edition continues to unfold, you'll find your armies battling in the Nephilim Anomaly. The Necrons are falling into the grip of a civil war and your armies will be able to dive into a new Crusade (the narrative side of Warhammer 40,000) with new lore, thematic rules, new Relics, Battle Traits, Crusade Blessings and Agendas. You'll also find rules for salvaging Blackstone Fragments and using them in your army. I'm sure that will go well for everyone involved.
It's good to see the narrative shifting away from being focused on the Imperium as we see the inner politics of the Necrons play out on the tabletop. Hopefully, as part of the wider narrative push in Warhammer 40,000 this will make for some meaningful changes in the state of play amongst the various factions. If not, at least you can do that in your own Crusade games!
