New Space Marine Dark Angels Come To Warhammer 40,000
June 20, 2015 by brennon
Games Workshop have added even more to their recent Space Marine release with not only a new Dark Angel Codex and its Limited Edition companion but also a Interrogator Chaplain model (we've seen this one before) and the accompanying Datacards that pop up now and then too for Warhammer 40,000...
Dark Angels
The Angels of Death, sons of Lion El'Jonson, are the latest Chapter to get their own book. As well as delving into their dark past they have plenty of cool options like the Ravenwing which is their all mounted (on bikes and assorted vehicles) army that strikes hard and fast.
Of course the Limited Edition Codex is just as fancy looking as ever and for collectors these really are a big deal. I know a lot of people who relish these new books and love having them on display.
You also get a few additional bits and pieces within these books so if you like feeling a little bit special you have something to pre-order.
Interrogator Chaplain
A new model is also part of the Dark Angel release and the Interrogator Chaplain is probably one of the best Space Marines they've come out with in a long while. I love the stance and the skull visage glaring at his enemies.
The Librarian last week was ok but this model appears to capture what the essence of the Chaplain a bit better than the Librarian did for his own kind.
Will you be joining the Dark Angels?

I wonder if Cypher will be in the new codex??
Also both this codex and the space marine one have a lot brighter artwork on the front cover than the last ones. I wonder what the theme is with all of that?
interesting to see from the sprue that the head, back pack, crozius , and shoulder pad
are all usable with the standard space marine kits 🙂
that’s a surprisingly forward thinking move on their part 🙂
it even seems that the power fist would work well for a simple conversion too 🙂
… just a shame it costs nearly 20 squid (@ , @)
Shhh… you’re not allowed to mention the outrageous price 😉 .
@cpauls1 funny how the people who complain the loudest about GW also seem to be the people who complain about not being able to post what they like. Clearly the imaginary ban isn’t working 😉
That Interrogator Chaplain is actually really good. New codex cover art also looks really good and that makes me happy. Hopefully what is inside those covers is also least as good so that DA can get respect that they deserve.
Splashed out on the limited edition codex. Normally I’m happy enough with the regular versions but the Dark Angels were the first army I started to collect back in the mid nineties. I had asked my father to order me some paints and it was complete chance that he picked out the Dark Angels set. I painted up the 20 marines that came with 40K 2nd Ed. and I’ve been hunting the Fallen ever since.
I already have enough Chaplains so this new guy isn’t a priority but it’s a great sculpt and far better than last week’s Librarian.
I’m not generally a fan of recent GW output (the brilliant Ad Mech aside) but that Chaplain is fantastic.
I like that limited edition codex, but I just don’t really see value when in a year or two it be made over with a new edition.
In the intro, isn’t it Ravenwing that’s all mounted and Deathwing that’s all Terminators?
…and the Deathwing used to be Red Indian/Native American types!
Yeah, I think Brennon made something of c%ck up on that one.
The new book looks great, but since I’m not overly struck on the current rules, I’m not likely to delve in right now.
As for the Chaplain, he looks pretty mean. But I have four already. And PF, Crozius, and bolt pistol holstered at the waist? Usually it’s a replace x with y scenario. Can chaplains now take all three? Although, why would you take the crozius and PF? Backpack looks good though.
6000pts of DA are still gathering dust I’m afraid 🙁 . . . . .
Oops <_ < - >_>
Preordered. Couldn’t resist myself.
After the rather dull release last week, I am super impressed by this fig, lovely sculpt and a genuinely new looking model – I am seriously considering a purchase.
…don’t do it!
Do it mate! Two may enter (you and your cash) one comes out! Two may enter one comes out!
Solid release from GW.
If you look at the back pack in the 3D pic it’s actually really creepy!
You can’t really see from the painted model but if you look at the sprue there’s actually a lot of effort in the detailing of this guy. Very good for plastic.
Good stuff GW.
like the book cover & the bark angels story’s I have read were good.
Well, fuck me sideways and toss me in a river! A 40k mini that I like. The endtimes must be drawing near indeed.
A really nice mini I will pick this up if/when I go back to my Dark Angels even thought I already have chaplins
The Chaplain is very nice, but can he see anything? I would love to argue LoS using him in a game! Love the PF.
…you must have all read the poem?
I have always had something of a soft spot for the Unforgiven. They have a really interesting, medieval look with their combination of powered armour and monk’s robes, and combine outward heroism (by the Imperium’s rather dark and intolerant standards) with a really strong, sinister edge and a generous helping of dangerous secrets and hidden agendas that appear to outsiders as untrustworthiness. Afterall, we know that the Imperium is a rather nasty, regressive place, but with the Dark Angels it is made unambiguously clear that they torture people just to get confessions – not even having the bad excuse that… Read more »
for fear of sounding like a broken record, must admit, nice chaplain – BUT, can’t see me replacing Seraphicus any time soon… ickle cutesy so-n-so he is…
I am really thinink of getting the chaplan just to paint. As the only DA force i have is from the dark vangenes box ….now back to sculpting and fund ny eldar shinniessssssss
