The Dark Angels Begin Their Hunt For The Fallen Once More
December 11, 2017 by brennon
The Dark Angels are the next chapter of the Space Marines to get their Codex for Warhammer 40,000 thanks to Games Workshop. Their hunt for The Fallen begins again as they scour the galaxy and indeed walk the line between good guys and bad guys (we all know they're heretics really...).
New Dark Angels Releases
As with all of these releases, there are going to be some options for you to pick up accessory-wise beyond just the Codex. For example, here we have the Dice Set and the Data Cards which can be handy for those looking to really get invested in their force. They are also, at least in the sense of the cards, very useful.
New Models
Model-wise the Dark Angels are getting a lot of existing kits BUT with additional upgrade sets included to make them properly Dark Angel. Leading the way we have Primaris Lieutenant Zakariah here with that evil smirk on his face.
He carries a plasma pistol and a power sword into battle and is marked out as different from his other Battle Brothers with a few additional accessories here and there. I still can't get past that sinister look on his face. He knows secrets...so many secrets.
Moving on from him we then have an Intercessor Squad...
...Hellblaster Squad
...and finally, an Aggressors Squad for you to pick up, each with a few Dark Angel upgrades thrown into the mix to make sure that they are themed towards your army as a whole.
The Dark Angel Primaris Upgrade Set can also be picked up separately from these sets if you already have some Primaris kits, or if you just want to add more into the mix, allowing you to further customise your force of Space Marines on the tabletop.
Are you going to be snapping up these new models and taking on this Chapter?

A lot of reboxes with Chapter Iconcography which is always convenient
But damn, that Lieutenant. Cool as hell. Love it.
Id agree with the Lieutenant looking cool as hell, if he didn’t have the face of Boris Johnson,
you know under that hood there is a shock of bojo fur and a desire to dangle from a zip line….
New and Improved!! Finding the Fallen has never been easier! If they are shorter than you drag them in for questioning…. :P:P 😀
I am ready for updated Dark Angels. I might end up getting both this Codex and Blood angels one at same time if LGS that I am going to buy those has some issues getting GW products.
Could the Aggressors be white/bone coloured like Deathwing?
Really liking the style of the new Dark Angel Primaris – Reminds me of the ‘Scarface’ Space Marine Epic Boxed Set artwork… my early intro to 40k
@grimcrazy I would say not fluffwise as to be Deathwing you are well into the inner circles and these new lads probably won’t be trusted for a while
Dark Angels are known from not trusting outsiders or even some of they own like Tech Marines that get training from AdMech and any of they battle brother who is not member of Inner Circle. So Primaris Marines are most likely not trusted by them as they are pretty much outsiders. Not trusting others and trying to keep secret is price that they are willing to pay to make sure that they are not wiped out by Imperial Inquisition or any other Imperial faction while they defend Imperium and try to hunt Fallen to keep that secret. After all one… Read more »
Ooh, there is an important wrinkle. Nobody “from away” is supposed to even know about the Fallen. Would you even take Primaris on a Fallen Hunt? Would that mean that they would “know too much” if they did participate in a hunt?
If I have understood right based on Legacy of Caliban trilogy that they would be given some other mission or task just like every member of chapter who isn’t part of Inner Circle like Tactical Marines and Assault Marines so not to risk them finding out about Fallen. Exception to this seems to be Ravenwing Bikers and other members of Ravenwing since they are needed in hunt because of they speed and mobility but they are not told either. I don’t remember what they would do if let’s say Ravenwing Biker found out since ones in books who found out… Read more »
I’m sure I read in the designer’s notes of the new WD that the Primaris have not been admitted into the Deathwing yet. But then its up to you really so by all means rock on.
I still hate the LTs face…looks like it belongs on one of the Emperor’s Children not a grim-moody Dark Angel.
Lt is a fairly nice model, probably grab this at some point but not in a rush.
imperial scapegoat’s?
Nice bunch of heretics, really like the smiling Lieutenant.
Wow!….. Heretics?… Really!?… You’re right though, but still you don’t have to say it out loud. It’s a secret.
Meh!!! where’s the Rout!!!!
The dark green colour and the LT’s pose, give an almost Sharps Rifles look to the Dark Angels.
Give a long scope rifle on one for Hagman , an assualt rifle for Sgt Harper,
just a thought.
I love it. People always used to say that the Gaunt’s Ghosts books were Sharpe in space, and the idea finds new life again here.
There is an alternative helmeted head for the Lieutenant if you prefer.
