Games Workshop are going to be taking pre-orders for the newest set of Dark Angels miniatures for Warhammer 40,000 this weekend. You'll be able to scoop up new characters, new elite troops and the rules for these unrelenting Space Marines.

Asmodai Master Of Repentance - Warhammer 40K

Asmodai, Master Of Repentance // Warhammer 40,000

Leading the way is Asmodai himself. He is a relentless hunter of The Fallen and once he has captured his foe, he is rather good at making sure that the correct confession is extracted. With the return of The Lion, it will be interesting to see how Asmodai takes to Lion El'Jonson taking a different approach to some of his fallen sons. The miniature comes with options for hood up and hood down and I think we all know the right answer to which one you'd pick.

If you're looking to take a different approach to the Dark Angels and bring forth terminator armour-clad warriors then you might want to snap up Belial, Grand Master Of The Deathwing.

Belial Grand Master Of The Deathwing - Warhammer 40K

Belial, Grand Master Of The Deathwing // Warhammer 40,000

He will be a masterful addition to your Warhammer 40,000 army and a great leader for your Deathwing Terminators. He comes armed with the Sword Of Silence and a master-crafted Storm Bolter to blow away your foes. Again, you can choose to have Belial with the hood up or down. The correct answer is up. Always up. I also like the flaming skeleton on the front of his base, showcasing the fury with which the Dark Angels purge the battlefield of heretics.

Elite Dark Angels

For elite troops, we have something new and something old (but revamped). We start with the Inner Circle Companions.

Inner Circle Companions - Warhammer 40K

Inner Circle Companions // Warhammer 40,000

The Inner Circle Companions are a mysterious band of elite warriors that fight alongside their commanders with terrifying zeal. They tend to fight in utter silence, cutting down their enemies with huge Calibanite Greatswords. They can each be built in one of two poses with different options allowing you to make unique Companions. Fit these fellows in alongside your commanders and make sure they get to where they need to be. These fellows are properly cool and bring the Fantasy into the Sci-Fantasy of Warhammer 40,000.

You can also run the elite Deathwing Knights, the first custom Terminator kit for a Space Marine faction.

Clad in the relics of the Chapter, both in terms of weapons and armour, they are going to be a hard nut to crack. I do like the slightly more archaic look to their armour and (once again) I do approve of the Sci-Fantasy vibe of running into gun battles with swords (or maces) and shields. It's a shame that they don't have the old flails but I think the miniatures still look good. I would have preferred maybe a little more of the wing/feather detail on show but you could always add that I suppose.

Last but not least, if you're looking to enhance existing Space Marine kits then you can also get yourself some neat upgrades in this set.

I like that you've got the additional Terminator weapons as well as loads of hooded heads for your Primaris kits. It's cool that we also get a Watcher In The Dark as part of the set as a fun extra.

Dark Angels Rules & Accessories

The new Codex is finally going to be available for you to scoop up.

Codex Supplement Dark Angels - Warhammer 40K

Codex Supplement: Dark Angels // Warhammer 40,000

You can get either the limited edition version or the regular version to slot into your library of Warhammer 40,000 books. I have to say that I much prefer the regular version of the Codex in this case. I think the artwork looks a lot nicer than the older piece on the limited edition cover. Whichever Codex you choose, it will come with updated rules, new strategems and specific army rules for running your Dark Angels on the tabletop.

You can also get yourself a set of custom dice for your Dark Angels plus specific Datasheet Cards for your army so you'll be able to quickly reference your armies in the heat of battle.

I do like the lovely stone effect on the dice that you can just about see in the preview above. That's very nice indeed. I'm sure there will be some Dark Angels fans out there eager to snap these up to add to their collection.

Will you be diving in and snapping up some of these new Dark Angels pre-orders?
