Defend Your Dark Angels Characters With New Companions
October 27, 2020 by brennon
Forge World has introduced a new set of miniatures into the mix for The Horus Heresy and Warhammer 40,000. If you're a Dark Angels player then you now have some protectors to stand valiantly beside your characters in the Deathwing Companions kit.
Dark Angels Legion Deathwing Companions // Forge World
This set allows you to make five of these Deathwing Companions armed with a variety of different weapons which have been taken from the vaults in a time of need. You will find options in the set to make a warrior armed with Terranic Greatsword, Calibanite Warblade & Boltgun, Plasma Pistol and Power Fist plus more armed with Calibanite Greatswords and Cytheron Pattern Aegises.

These miniatures are obviously a good fit for The Horus Heresy but you could also make use of them in a slightly modified way as part of a larger Warhammer 40,000 force. The Dark Angels do seem like they are the kind of Chapter that likes dragging out the relics and it would be fun to see these winged-helmed warriors as part of a new army.
The set doesn't come cheap but if you like your Dark Angels a hell of a lot then this could be a fun little project to dive into.
What do you make of these Companions?

It’s refreshing to see some of the classic “space knight” styles after the relatively clean and modernized look of the Primaris boys. (I am SO thankful for the Bladeguard!)
3 out of 5 have “foot on rock”? And that at £12 a piece? (Kit of five is £60 over at Forgeworld) 😉
GW/Forgeworld only know two poses … and at least one of them is ‘foot on rock’ 😀
Those are probably very expensive ‘rocks’, maybe that is where they hide their *ahem* contraband. 😉
I’m just looking at them as conversion fodder for 40k DA – I can see at least 1 Captain & 2 Lt’s, maybe a Company Champion and a Company Veterans Sgt? makes the cost a bit more reasonable in those terms…
They look really great, but so does a lot of Dark Angel heresy stuff.
I think i like these. Perhaps it’s because i’m comparing them to the mainline Games Workshop range. Perhaps i could kit bash.
Those look really good as expected from FW.
Fabulous figures shame that they are on the pricey side perfect as an honour guard.
They look fantastic! Got an old Dark Angels army boxed away somewhere from years back, may have to resurrect it…
They look good indeed! As @sundancer pointed out, “3 out of 5 have foot on rock”, that’s begining to be a heavy syndrome in GW’s minis 😉 !
