A Damocles Command Rhino On The Cards From Forge World
November 24, 2015 by brennon
A new version of the Rhino has been spotted by the eagle-eyed members of the Forge World team as they were wandering around the studio. See what you make of the Damocles Command Rhino where commanders will be directing the fighting from this armoured cocoon...
As you can see this Rhino has the typical look of one of these tanks but with some additional armour plating it seems, twin bolters on the top and a large radar for transmitting commands around the battlefield.
I wonder what use this will have in game?
What do you think of it?

No extra armour, that’s a standard Deimos-pattern Rhino. Only difference is the top hatch from what I can see, the radar dish is from the Hyperios missile launcher battery.
That radar dish is nice addition but other than that that Deimos-pattern Rhino is nothing special.
Looks like the old whirlwind rhino to me, minus the heavy ass metal launcher at the back, really don’t see the appeal of the Deimos pattern rhino to be honest, even for fluff purposes it doesn’t make much sense to me, seeing as 41st millennium rhino’s are based on STC’s which would have been available at the time…
No idea about in game use, but you could have a fun objective of playing king of the hill with 2 or 3 of them survive 4 turns comms has been maintained massive orbital barrage wipes everything out.
Same old, same old, including sticker shock
The released the command vehicle ages ago.
I ordered one back in the day.
The only thing new is that it’s one the old new chassis.
Rules are covered in the latest HH rule book from Forge World, provides an off table bombardment attack, bonuses to reserves and can be taken as a dedicated transport for certain HQs or as an HQ choice.
It’s OK but I prefer the GW Rhino rather than the FW version.
I think it’s rereleased for the 30K army legions hence the old shape?
