Classic Land Speeder Design Given New Life By Forge World
March 20, 2018 by brennon
Classic models have always been the domain of Forge World and their latest plan sees them reviving the Rogue Trader design for the first Land Speeder that the Space Marines got to use in Warhammer 40,000.
As you can see they have taken the classic design and given it an update here. The whole machine is a little less janky and feels like it fits into the new aesthetic of the game a lot more. If you're interested in seeing how the Land Speeder has evolved they provided folks with a nice look at it here...
There is something rather special about the Land Speeder as an idea. I like the idea of a fast-moving unit like this scouting ahead of the main Space Marine forces. They are also equipped with some powerful weapons too which can be a nice surprise for your enemies.
I'm sure it won't be long until you can get your hands on one of these classic vehicles.
Do you like this new take on a classic?

The new take on the classic design looks cool. A bit underarmoured for a Space Marine. But I like it much better than the blocky last version.
I had one of these the first time round. Could I get the melta to glue in the proper position? No.
You’ve just brought back a suppressed memory! Suppressed for a good reason! …. those damned meltas!
Hmm rather nice of them to return to the classic, its a debate for me as to whether I need it or not but its certainly something I hope to see on more table tops as a throw back
God I feel old. I bought one of these first time round
Guess i know what i will be saving for lol
Like it a lot
I’m excited we have a new Retro inspired model. I’m saddened at my wallet… lol
That tip-over metal %$£$!!! – how many times did it fall off that tiny plastic hexagonal stand??
I loved that model. It was a total Tyranid-killer 🙂
Looks pretty good, quite like it…
as seen on firefly?
If Space Marines were married, they’d call that sucker the “Widow Maker.”
It got shot down so many times, I lost count.
I am not fan of that Land Speeder design. It also makes Marines piloting it even more exposed.
Gotta have me one of these just so it can go alongside my old jet bikes. 🙂
Bigger fan of the 90s design – if that was enlarged a wee bit it’d feel a tad more “speeder” and less “flying brick” as the 80s/00s ones do. That said, I’ve got a lead one of these sitting waiting for me to manufact a replacement seat as it’s missing a piece, but otherwise will be quite a funky addition to the forward squadron. It’s not small, honest, just really really far away.

Wow, that’s one cool idea!
Aye, second design was the best. Like an armoured battering-ram, but it weighed a ton.
The third design is Trotters Independent Traders 🙂 (that joke never got tired for anyone fighting the Imperial Fists)
there was some fantastic Horus Heresy artwork ‘Siege of the Imperial Palace’ with first and second edition speeders in it.
I like it. Do i need one ? Probably not. Will i get one anyway ? Yes, it’s a great looking update on a classic 😀 .
I never liked the land speeder much, but that redisegn is very nice, that I like it a lot.
Maybe is because it looks so crude it works, I never like when the imperium has antigrav tech that looks stylish, thats eldar business xD
They look like they’re on a carnival ride.
Sometimes it takes me a while to warm to certain 40k designs. This time not, doesn’t do it for me.
I do get the nostalgia and it’s great that FW has done this and that it will make some people really happy.
Converting time. Ripping off the multi-melta, adding a few riverted on panels and the speeder looks just right for a Necromunda gang speeder.
Liking the new look on the original Landspeeder, not sure about getting one (but you never know). I do have an almost complete original, will have to see what bits are missing. I do have some of the other two types, so maybe adding one of the new ones just to complete the set.
Kinda ugly, but id like to paint it either way
