BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! I would love to see a world eater’s codex full of nifty ways to add skulls to the skull throne
I really wouldn’t like to see more Codexes. It takes them long enough to release new ones as it is. I’d like to see a combined Chaos Codex that would replace the current Marines and Daemons, one which would allow you to choose any of the possible army builds. You could pick standard Undivided Marines, pure Daemons, or forces made up of pure followers of one of the Chaos Gods, or anything in between. I’d also like to see this for Imperial Marines, as lets face it, there’s so much cross-over between all the Codexes they could easily pile them… Read more »
Agreed, what i used to like about Chaos was being able to field marines and demons in one army, of whatever sort you chose, hopefully they’ll implement that in a future release, maybe then i’ll start with the nurgle army i’ve got in mind.
Are you guys planning on going through all the codexes? Was thinking some infinity coverage would be good, going through each faction and maybe identifying the best things to take? Not sure how practical that would be though.
Bring back Malal, the fifth Chaos god
I want a huge “forces of chaos” book Chaos marines/Daemons/traitor guard all in one book but I don’t think that will ever happen.
I think the problem with splitting the legions up into separate codices is the default codex is the black legion, which being led by Abbadon often draws units from the other legions on ancient pacts, or just has them anyway since they worship chaos in all its myriad of forms- EG all world eaters are berzerkers, but not all berzerkers are world eaters. When you actually look at the units that make up the other legions, they’re all in the basic list, and they’re all really supposed to be accessible in that list in order to field an undivided warband… Read more »
I can’t believe how much fo the cool stuff from Chapter Approved GW have dumped. They seem to have annoyed a lot of The Lost and the Damned players with that move. It’s a shame because it’s an interesting army. Likewise I’d like to see rules for a Genestealer cult (and new hybrid miniatures) because it would be something interesting to collect. We’ve seen it in the fluff, and recently in the Space Marine game, where renegade Guardsmen turn to Chaos, and follow Chaos Marines into battle against loyalists, but I’ve never seen it on the table in person, which is… Read more »
Yeah, the only legal ways now are kinda short of how the real thing should be, you can use an IG list with Straken’s rules representing an ancient alpha legionary but there’s only one of him so its still a bit off.
Yay Chaos!
I just want a new codex for Chaos with all the same cool game cheats like the Space Wolves and Dark Eldar have, only slightly better. 😉 Then I shall punish my enemies (i.e. my friends John and Sam, not BoW John and BoW Sam) and mine will be an evil laugh.
You’re missing little stuff like the fact that Thousand sons have AP3 bolters. 🙂 that can matter a whole lot whether something is worth its points value. (or for example if you don’t just want an objective holding troop, i.e. plague marines, or a cc troop, i.e. KB) A large squad of these with a sorceror with an offensive power can be a big “no entry” zone on the battlefield. Marks of slaanesh are also overlooked. I seem to be the only person ever to field MoS termies with ligtning claws… but I5 lightning claws out of a land raider?… Read more »
I think it would be nice if they did a codex for the 4 different chaos gods and 1 for chaos undivided.
Thing is, considering the amount of time that it takes for them to bring out a new codex, it just wont happen, as they haven’t even been able to update all the 4th ed codex’s to 5th ed as it is, and with the romoured 6th ed coming out next year, they ain’t gonna be able to.
What chance would there be for 4-5 new codex’s on top of all the others.
Answer : none.
Just my 2 pence.
My thoughts exactly, you have saved me from writing it all out!!
Chaos is supposed to be the darkest evil you could find (Necrons might be eviler) yet they are such push overs. Keep the same list just half the point cost on everything and it will be all fine 😛
MWG Dave would be happy that yiu guys looked into codex of one of his favorite armies in 40k.
All chaos dreads, since they’re pre-heresy, should be venerable AND sweet looking like the new FW ones (only plastic and affordable).
A chaos plastic dread will get me back into the local GW store for a change.
I bought a venerable dreadnaught kit and have been Chaos-ing it up with greenstuff and a Dremel and spikes from the Chaos Rhino kit. It’s working out pretty well, actually.
I’d like to see that, mine is a really ugly metal one from 94 (?). I’ve considered Warmachine Khador Jacks since the Forgeworld ones are too expensive, and the regular Chaos one is too ugly (and expensive).
daemon weapons also stink, on a 1 your lord hits himself and doesn’t attack??? ugh.
After watching the video, here are my thoughts: I don’t think I’d like to see the different gods split into separate books (i.e. “Codex: Deathguard”) because it will take GW forever to release them. I like the idea of Chaos warbands being a mixture of different types of units, but I would like to see some bonuses added back in if you do stay “faction-pure” and go all Nurgle, for example. My current warband is Nurgle (Plague Marines), Khorne (Berzerkers) and Black Legion (Undivided) but I’m mostly staying away from the other two gods. I think it’s nice to have… Read more »
I think if they did extra Chaos Codexes it would be;
Chaos (A combination of all Chaos forces, Renegades, Marines, Daemons etc)
Death Guard (Nurgle)
World Eaters (Khrone)
Thousand Sons (Tzeench)
Emperor’s Children (Slannesh)
Personally i’d love that, it would give a broader aspect to the Chaos forces (and then Marines won’t be the only ones hogging all the different codexes) and would make way for some Heretics to be intruduced and maybe make a Chaos-IG equivalent, GW would also like it ’cause, hey, they like money.
It would be good if they at least include special characters that will let you make a themed army. For example in the space marine codex you can take Pedro Kantor or Vulkan He’ston which gives you different chapter tactics. They could do it that if you took a certain special character everyone got a certain mark or the chapter tactics were changed to better fit a themed army.
Codex: Night Lords! Would love to see Talos as a special character with First Claw as his retinue.
A Codex Space Marines-sized book with army lists for the Big Four but also options for making up unique chapters of your own would be cool. I really like the idea of a separate book for non-marine Renegades (they needn’t even all be Imperial renegades, although I don’t think that’s how GW roll any more), and along with the Daemons codex they’d only need to make three books for what, in the fluff, is the great adversary, which isn’t too unreasonable since Space Marines have six at the moment. Going way back to second edition (I think?) rules on allies,… Read more »
The 4th edition codex was a masterpiece, wasn’t it?
I’ll go one better than that – bring back Realms of Chaos! 400 hardbacked pages detailing EXACTLY how many tentacles, spikes and in some cases legs your renegades can have.
I have Typhus the herald as my army general. (gotta give love to nurgle)
would you take him ? and why, personaly i justify it because him with 8 khorne bezerkers and a landraider is a shure way to break a gun line or capture an objective.
but what do you guys think ?
I think Darrell has underestimated dreadnoughts. I have two. The one with 2 close combat weapons regularily leathers the living snot out of my friends armies. Smaller than the awful defiler the other has a plasma cannon and close combat weapon. just give them flamers and they usually can’t shoot your own troops. As for seperate codices, the khorne beserker one would fall down on the fluff side as the world eaters nearly destroyed tehm selves fighting which is why they either are a few scattered troops or work for other legions. PS Alpha legion all the way, sneaky sneaky.… Read more »
Would you even be able to field a world eaters army? I thought they split due to all being mental killing machines and now only fight in small warbands rather than a full army
I would love to see GW take a page from Privateer Press and have the main book, then have new units come out with cards. (Hopefully the format in 6th.) Maybe themed/tiered army cards they given out in White Dwarf. Other games release new models, GW just seems to redo most of their models every few years with maybe one or two new units (i.e. Necrons right now.) Why would I want to rebuy my raptors yet again? Though I would consider plunking down money for a new unit of raptor variants that have different rules on a card that… Read more »
love to see an iron warroirs codex i miss there specail rules
I think leave the four unique unit types (berserkers and plague marines for instance) and do some completely fresh army books for the classic chapters from the first founding like iron warriors and word bearers, as above I loved the old iron warriors and they need more to make them usable and fluffy, I’d also like to see another of the primarchs brought back in daemon prince form that would be cool
I’d like to see GW redo the 3rd Edition Chaos Book. I loved all the special rules you got for playing a certain Chaos Legion. My current CSM is Iron Warrior based so I don’t use Demons (except Demon Prince and Possessed) and I usually bring at least one vindicator (just wish the old drop 2 Fast Attack slots for 1 Heavy Support was legal). Hoping the new Chaos codex brings back some of the old rules and maybe a new character or two.
Iron Within, Iron Without!
i think they’ve made it too complicated. if they didnt make daemons a seperate army it would probably be worth putting legions into seperate armies, and as people have already said it would take them forever to release new seperate codice now. it would probably mean making lots more new special characters, giving the black legion a speciality (no one would probably bother with them if they could have a legion with ap3 bolters or feel no pain). it would be amazing to see a big combined book though with daemons and traitor legions (mutants, renegades, psykers, traitor marines) just… Read more »
it is a pet hate for my to see the army use togather, unless under the flag of the black legions, after all that was the point of the black legion that they could use all unit but what the point of them now if every one just add a unit of KB for cc and NM for long rangd no it should go back to the old ways, in which Chaos fight chaos as much as anything else black legion should be the only thing to unight the follow of the god and world baerus should be the only… Read more »
