The Brôkhyr Thunderkyn Bring Heavy Weapons To Warhammer 40K
August 23, 2022 by brennon
More Leagues Of Votann miniatures have been previewed by Games Workshop this week. Heavy weapons are the name of the game this time with the Brôkhyr Thunderkyn being able to lay down a withering amount of fire in games of Warhammer 40,000.

The Brôkhyr Thunderkyn are those that toil away in the forges of the Leagues Of Votann and when called to battle, they jump into their exo-suits and pick up some seriously deadly-looking guns. I am getting some serious Live, Die, Repeat vibes from these new miniatures.
These miniatures can use bolt cannons and SP conversion beamers to decimate their enemies and their omni-visors are able to discern where enemies are even through any dense terrain. Overall, I think the designs are a little bit busy and seem like they would be hell to paint but I think the general idea is rather awesome.
Again, I do like that they've gone with the idea that the Leagues Of Votann make use of their mining equipment in war. This means that everything they create has somewhat of a dual purpose. It's what was so appealing about the Genestealer Cults as well when we got to see their kit.

It will be interesting to see how many options there are present in this Brôkhyr Thunderkyn when it finally lands. I would assume there will be a few more weapons to choose from and additional head options at the very least.
Are you tempted by the Brôkhyr Thunderkyn and the idea of a Leagues Of Votann army?

They look cool, but they got no beards … so they can’t be dwarves. 😛
I just noticed that these are short people on stilts.
I guess they figured that they had to compensate for their shortness 😉
They may moonlight as plasters ?
Nice heavy weapons unit.
And once again, an entirely new type of trooper.
No armor troopers
Standard armor troopers
EXO armor Troopers
Power armor Troopers
Vehicles that hover
Vehicles that roll
at all
Just so hodge podge… just doesnt feel like a unified military fighting force at all.
Did one of the GW marketers mix up the Van Saar releases for what were supposed to be the new Squats? These REALLY feel like Van Saar models that were scaled down and repackaged.
Those do look really nice.
The Leagues have superior tech to Space Marines, are pretty advanced and have power armour… why on earth are they now using literal exo suits ? (boxed as 3 for the price of 5 naturally). The release is no doubt a complete failure but it’s even more annoying in that clearly there were SOME voices at GW trying to restrain the forces that decided to ruin the faction by making it “super sci-fi, that’s what the kids want!” – the same silly voices who no doubt demanded Vanguard Fortnite Space Marines be a thing. These models are great though and… Read more »
