Light Your Warhammer 40K Armour to Victory!
June 15, 2014 by stvitusdancern
With the boys getting back into Warhammer 40K, now is the time to make your army stand out. JS Miniatures has released new light kits for adding LED lighting to your favourite armoured vehicle such as a Rhino or other plated beast.
With these kits you get enough LED and fibre optic lights to make your tanks look awesome on the battlefield. From the description on their website the instructions for installation does not appear to be too difficult. The results look really great and can add some realism to your armour.
To even further customize your army, the light kits come in different colour options. So if you wanted to do the classical red light for saving night vision like you see in all of the military movies you can do so. I can see some really awesome looking displays being created with these kits. You could use them on just about any vehicle in your list that can hide the battery and switch within the frame.
Looking at these kits I can feel myself being drawn deeper into starting my own 40K army. What do you think, does having customization options make you want to build armour too?

Thought this looked cool…
… then saw the interior!!!
Must have lol
Maybe a retro fit so that the altar of melta bombs begins to blink red?
Lol
I have a falcon that lights up blue underneath. Only trouble with it was, as the shiniest thing on the table it did become a missile magnet. To avoid this it would probably be a good idea to “Pimp all my rides”.
Hmmn…….not sure why it became such a missile magnet? Maybe your oponents were jealous of your handy work so they thought having it removed from the table would serve you right for being so clever and ingenious. Or perhaps having it lit up like a Christmas Tree subconsciously got in to their psyche so that some kind of alter ego took over and decided your tank was a better target than any other. lolz
@adamzeppelin it’s a bit like sods law it just happens, apart from that it’s not a bad tactic to identify and take out your opponents newest shiniest toy as it’s usually quite pivotal to his game plan (otherwise why has he just added it to his army).
Thomas @ Blood and Skulls industries do a similar set up 🙂 (home of the worleld ender missile system)
Oh yeah, love that they put everything into one pkg. There was a guy several years ago who lighted his Thousand Sons, not just the vehicles but the Individual Chaos Space Marines too. He used little watch batteries in the bases and a dremel tool to drill out space for the little wire for his LED lights. Thousand Sons with glowing eyes, it looked epic.
On the subject of glowing miniatures I thought this article on BOLs was impressive:

it’s very cool and of course I’d love to do it for one of my 40k vehicals but it’s about making the effort and I’m one of those gamers that has the unfortunate quality of laziness . But it’s a fantastic idea , I agree.
