Bodge Together Some Big Gunz & Mek Toolz For Da Orks!
June 14, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop have some more Orks coming to fight the big Waaaaaaagh! for Warhammer 40,000. See what you think of this crackpot line-up that will no doubt be laying down some insanely powerful shooting on the battlefield...
We'll kick things off with the Big Mek with his rather fancy looking Shokk Attack Gun. This one appears to have been assembled to make it look like it's powering up to deliver a mega-blast of energy across the battlefield and I doubt it will take long for those little tendrils of energy to break off the gun. Alas!
To keep the enemy at bay of course you need something big and zappy and that's indeed what we have here. Manned by a variety of grotz these things will be wheeled out onto the battlefield to do a variety of different damage types to a variety of different foes. I think there is probably a tool for every situation in this Ork line-up.
It's not such a bad haul for the Orks this week but we're still waiting on that all important codex update!
What do you think of this Meks toys?

Can I just say… £22 for a single freaking tiny sprue..? Think i’ll pass thanks.
The big guns might be £28 but at least you get a fair few extra bits for kit-bashing stuff.
Must be gold-plated…
like dat big mek, full of character !
I don’t mind the big guns, but the new Shokk Attack Gun is awful. It’s like the old model, only much worse, and plastic, and more expensive. Genius.
Shokk Attack gun is a poorer version of the old metal sculpt. Big guns I quite like, like the return of some of the old classic weapons
Price is ridiculous – to the point where I cannot justify it. Which given I am massive fan of the orks – and have historically brought anything ork gw have release is a bit sad.
Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun is a solid looking model but at £22.50 for yet another of GW’s sh*tty mono-pose clam pack PLASTICS, it’s a fail. Had the model been resin you could justify the price an expect way more detail than this CAD creation, at least. Hey GW, you can at least afford us a choice of heads!… even worse, I noted GW seem to be making Ork heads specifically so you cannot swap them with other models (take a look). Mek Gunz are good but the idiotic way the website now operates makes it even more confusing… Read more »
*Mek with Shokk Attack is an inferior replica of the older model, that is
Most ork players will already have a Shokk Attack Gun as the last sculpt was so nice. Usually I’m a fan of the clam packs, but this is too steep, if you had the option of building him with a custom force field it might squeak in. The big guns on the other hand look great, loads of bits and some new grots – love that they gave a grot his own 360 degrees (he must feel pretty special). Although 28 quid is a lot for a 30pt model I expect most people will scratch build and get 2-3 big… Read more »
Maybe they’ll power up the new big guns in the new codex to warrant the price?
I like the new Shokk attack gun, and for me it’s a big bonus that it’s neither metal nor finecast, I’ll definitely be getting one 😀
The Mek guns though, I might buy one to get those grotz and bitz, but no way in hell will I ever buy five of those boxes for a full battery. And here I thought the old guns were expensive… I don’t usually complain about the price, but that was a step too far even for me :-/
Very much, price is one of those thing you can either justify it or not – but these are OTT
So, how long do you think before this plastic crack literally costs more per ounce than real crack?
£22.50?? Bwahahahaaaaaa!
Man they must be desperate for cash as almost every new release is bloody expensive for what you get. I’m just glad this is a hobby and I can say no buying such things.
I thought one of the main attractions of playing orks was kit bashing cool looking orky stuff? Get cheap kids toy tanks and guns orky them up with gubbins and plasticard! Job done! Why pay through the nose for ‘GW studio standard’ models , when half the fun of orks is creating your own cool conversions? Old WD used to have loads of great conversions, George Delapenas Speed Freeks spring to mind.(Awesome army in a dessert battle report against IG.) Or is the ‘GW hobby’ just buying GW product now? Will GW plc sell a ‘looted wagon sprue ‘ for… Read more »
