Community Spotlight: Blood Angels, Norman Warlords, & A Saintly Warrior
July 7, 2017 by crew
We're back with another Community Spotlight focusing in on more of your amazing work from the last week or so in the Hobby & Painting Forum. Make sure to share your own work and we might feature it!
Without further ado let's get stuck in...
Primaris Blood Angels by agis
First up we have this set of Primaris Blood Angels that have been coming together over the last few weeks from community member agis.
Here you can see the Captain in Gravis Armour alongside some of the other characters from the Dark Imperium set that has had a lot of work done on them to bring them in line with the Blood Angels chapter. I love the head swaps and the tweaks to the Captain in particular.
The project has gone on another step as well as agis has also painted up an Inceptor from the set and given him the bitz box treatment too.
Now that is one amazing looking Inceptor. These models are certainly a bit of a hit and miss with most people but we think you'll agree this has taken them to another level. In particular, the use of the wings to Sanguinary Guard from the rest of the range makes a difference and elevates the miniature.
As you can tell agis has some serious skill and it will be fantastic to see the models coming together as a full army. With the amount of customisation he's already done to the models we're looking forward to seeing how the squads come out like this chap here...
Now we just await the rest of the army!
Non-Metallic Metal Saint Celestine by tommiesoule
Next up we're sticking with Warhammer 40,000 (hey, 8th Edition is out and it's hot right now...) and checking out what the masterful tommiesoule has been doing. Here is his now finished non-metallic metal Saint Celestine.
As well as an experiment in painting using non-metallic metals, which has turned out amazingly here, this was also a piece Tommie wanted to do and send to someone who has been helping him through illness.
It's a nice gift of thanks and one that we're sure will take pride of place in a collection. In particular, we should draw attention to the work on that Inquisitorial sigil there and the pattern around the hem of the cape. The deep reds and that level of shading and highlighting really work nicely against the gold armour and the miniature is framed nicely against the cold grey base.
Norman Warlord by dugthefug1644
We now turn to some historical and the work of dugthefug1644 who has been doing some sterling work on SAGA and in particular here his Norman Warlord.
We wanted to highlight this one in particular as it has shown skill coming on between his various projects and it's fantastic to see what he's doing as he brings a multitude of factions to life. Of note here, of course, we have the very accurate colours that have been painted onto the helmet and the bright shield which works well against the darker chainmail.
It would be terrible to go without pointing out the nice base work too on the Norman Warlord which looks very realistic.

@all
Splendid work!!
Awesome work guys. Really like the gold scheme on the Interceptor.
Inspiring work!
Thanks folks! More will follow soon, I am about to finish my 1st full squad, after that the other 2 Inceptors. Played two games of 40K and I am finally after years and years of only reading back into gaming 40K. While playing it struck me why I like the new 40K so much, it has many of the game ideas of my own 2011 Victory Decision system included! Do not get me wrong, I do not believe that GW even know of my system, but it is in a way rewarding to see that sometimes the same ideas… Read more »
Great jumpin’ jehosaphats! Those Blood Angels look INCREDIBLE. I’m also a huge fan of Sisters, so this week was right up my alley. Great job you guys!!!

Great work all round there, well done guys!!
Thanks for the button. Really is much appreciated.
I was given some 40k miniatures for nothing, on the understanding that I promised to paint them, so I’ll be sharing my efforts on those.
I love shield design freehand work and have enjoyed playing Saga lately, so will continue with my efforts to flesh out full 6 point forces with some options to tailor my lists hopefully.
Thanks again.
Well done to all winners, as always you are an inspiration. thank you for sharing
Congratulations to you all!
That is very high quality indeed! Love the deep red of the blood angels. The non metalic of Celestine is fantastic. And love to see the historic accuracy and the great base work on the norman
