More Black Templars Bolster Your Warhammer 40K Crusades
October 11, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop aren't just stopping with the release of the big new Black Templars Army Set for Warhammer 40,000. A few more reinforcements are on the way for those wanting to play as these zealous crusaders in a grimdark future.

One of the neat things about this latest Black Templars release is that they have really been rummaging through the vaults. The miniature above is a testament to that, bringing to life the Castellan from this classic piece of Black Templars artwork. I love how utterly mad and archaic this particular miniature is and so unashamedly "40K". Skulls, extravagant armour and a good mix between Fantasy and the Sci-Fi.
As well as a brand new character miniature, you'll also be able to snap up a new plastic kit for your Sword Brethren too. These are your devout and zealous specialists who are intent on getting up close and personal with every foul enemy of The Emperor.

Again, a good mix of accessories and options here that really sell the Black Templars as a unique Space Marine force. I like that even crossing the Rubicon Primaris hasn't changed the way the Black Templars think about dolling themselves up for battle. It really sells the Space Knight look and feel of the Space Marines that captures people's imagination.
Lastly, at least for now, we also have this brand new Upgrades And Transfers pack which will give you a bunch of different ways to customise your troops, tanks and characters throughout your Black Templars force.

You've got loads of new shoulder pads with built-in designs as well as a vast array of weapons that are befitting of the Black Templars. I am particularly sold on the number of swords and shotguns the Black Templars get to bring into battle.
A few of the pieces here are actually weapons and items that can be claimed by a Crusade force in Warhammer 40,000. So, if you're playing the more narrative version of Warhammer 40,000 then you have access to them here. I hope this is something that we see done for other armies in the future.
New Warhammer 40,000 War Zones
We also got a peek at some more of the Warhammer 40,000 goodness coming up for pre-order this weekend. A brand new War Zone book is coming called Rising Tide.
Rising Tide // Warhammer 40,000
Inquisitor Kryptmann has been doing a bit of meddling and how Hive Fleet Leviathan finds itself in the heart of a mighty Ork empire. With a massive tide of Tyranids looking to devour planet after planet and Orks ready to literally fight everything that moves, this seems like a perfect place for a new campaign.
If you are looking to play out some fun adventures in Octarius then perhaps you'd like the new Containment Mission Pack for your Crusade games?
Mission Pack: Containment // Warhammer 40,000
Twenty-one new narrative play scenarios are presented as part of this book which perfectly suits those looking to play out Crusade games with their friends. I am dipping my toe into Warhammer 40,000 at the moment and I can see Crusade being a neat way to play the game. I like the idea of engaging with the Power and Open aspects of the game without having to worry about the granularity of points and Matched Play.
Finally, for Warhammer 40,000, we have a new set of Ordo Xenos Dice which are going to be made available this weekend.
Ordo Xenos Dice // Warhammer 40,000
These lovely purple dice seem fitting for a war zone that is infested by Tyranids. If you're looking to play as the Deathwatch then I think these would work really nicely but I also reckon they'd be a fun option for other Imperial forces or even Tyranid players.
Are you going to be picking up some of these upcoming releases for Warhammer 40,000?

naaah. I’m good.
Ooh nice love the commander.
So first one is based om that 3rd edition art work but is even more over the top. Something that I didn’t think was even possible considering artist of that piece of art. Others are more typical looking Primaris with some Black Templar flare.
The Castellan is one of the best looking Space Marines to ever grace a cover – old school all the way. I wish all the new stuff was like this.
I think the scout (neophyte) bits are most interesting here.
I like the upgrade bitz and the first ever black female space marine.
But I still can’t stand the stupid ‘dummy cords’ they use to make sure they don’t lose their
mittens, ummm… I mean their weapons at the playground.
