Games Workshop are bringing out another big supplement to get your Blood Angels onto the tabletop for Warhammer 40,000. Here we have Angel's Blade which will set you up for more battles in the grim dark future...
Battling against the might of the Black Crusade are the Blood Angels who are acting as a first bastion of defence against Abaddon's might. Inside you're going to get...
- Updated datasheets for Blood Angels, including Terminator Captains, Death Company Chaplains, Assault Squads and Devastator Squads;
- Relics of the Lost; incredibly rare and powerful Death Company relics once borne by a Chapter member who succumbed to the Black Rage;
- Revised and updated Wargear of Baal;
- Death Company Tactical Objectives;
- 9x new Blood Angels Formations, an Angel’s Blade Strike Force and a Lost Brotherhood Strike Force;
- 3x new Altar of War missions: Death on the Wing, Honour of the Angels and No Matter the Odds.
Do you think that this is going to be one of the books that makes it into your collection? Additionally if you want to go to the next level you can get the Limited Edition version of the book.
You get everything as you would above as well as...
"Limited to a mere 750 copies, this limited edition book comes in an exclusive slipcase and includes six metal Tactical Objective markers, 36 Tactical Objective cards, a double-sided campaign map/poster and a set of Psychic Powers cards (including all Adeptus Astartes powers, plus the Sanguinary discipline), with exclusive artwork!"
So there you have it. If you're looking at add more models into the mix then you can also pick up a whole host of different bundles to get you going with the Blood Angels.
You can also delve into the different squads they've tinkered with too.
Defend The Void Shield Generator!
As well as the books for the Blood Angels you can also delve into a new terrain kit as they have now made the Void Shield Generator a plastic set for you.
Now what do you reckon to that? It's certainly a good looking piece and isn't going to cost you too much to pick up now either.

I really wish that BA would get vehicle squadrons in this because they don’t get those in they own codex. New models for them are nice addition considering that BA have they own style compared to other chapters. It’s nice to see Void Shield Generator as plastic kit.
Interesting. So they’ve thrown the Blood Angels upgrade sprue free into certain boxed sets?
I’m tempted to get that Void Shield kit and try adding LED lighting. Any idea whether the center could be replaced with one of these? https://www.amazon.com/Plasma-Light-Lightning-Sphere-Operated/dp/B008PO5QKW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1473504463&sr=8-5&keywords=plasma+ball
sounds great you will be posting pictures if you do?
Of course. But the $100 price tag for the GW model is too steep for me at the moment. I may build a proxy around a plasma ball though. I’ve seen some cool models that cannibalized VHS tapes and the like for cool bitz.
nice.
Traitors hate has kicked off the Black Crusade….. looking at what’s in my Traitors hate then yeah vehicles squadrons will be in there…..
Good to see Void Shield generator as a plastic kit, but the price is silly compared to their other comparably sized terrain pieces for AoS. E.g. A pair of Realmgates is £35. VSG is £60. Makes no sense to me.
It’s cool you get an extra sprue… but that cover art is just terrible. But I guess this the new age of 40k with semi-finished photoshop artwork replacing the epic sweeping artwork of old.
Photoshop is great, I love using it to make textures. When you give your boss some artwork that has faded airbrush lines and incomplete shading and blending, it should be turned down.
I’ll be getting Angel’s Blade just to collect all the Black Crusade stuff it’s kicking off with Traitor’s Hate.
I don’t know about the Void Shield Generator though. How come FW Titans and vehicles have a nice button sized disc for each void shield, but this kit is like some giant piece of playground equipment that doesn’t make sense…?
I think that is either because the vehicle mounted Void Shields are supposed to be more advanced tech from an earlier, pre-Imperial epoch, or it has to do with how the rules work on the tabletop. Most Void Shields (apart from the one’s on Forge World’s Stormbird) protect just the vehicle itself, but the tabletop Void Shield generator forms a type of shield dome that encompasses an entire chunk of the battlefield and all the units placed within its area of effect. In the background lore, that would require a heck of a lot more energy and better projection technology,… Read more »
Ah, good explanation, thanks.
I’m glad to see the nipple armor have a comeback. I’m expecting Batman to make an appearance now 😛
it is cold in space and spacemarine nipple’s are stronger than human’s?
So you can get a Red Thirst electronic edition of the BA codex with the new Angels Blade rules integrated. This is a nice move but also interesting. Chaos has new stuff from the twinned Traitors Hate book……but no updated codex. So perhaps they havn’t finished with CSM yet and have a load more stuff that will go into a similar updated codex we havn’t seen yet.
