They are turning out very nice,
Thanks for posting.
Did you consider a satin sheen over flat matte coat when doing these to help maintain the metallic shine?
Looking good!
The GW Nuln Oil gloss is great to give the metals a bit more sheen if you want this.
I use it for all metal parts of weapons, chain mail or plate armour. Here I would probably do weapons only.
Will you drill the Bolt gun muzzles?
@suetoniuspaullinus @johnlyons posted a reply yesterday saying he would be doing a revisit vid at the end of the vlog, in response to asking about the barrels…
I had considered for a while that I would just leave the dip shiny on the armour and matt over the cloth and guns etc.. But That would have slowed things down a bit and still left me a bit too shiny afterwards 🙂
I always find I liked the shine on armour once I’ve gotten rid of it! Happens every time to me….
very subtle looks better but maybe for just the commanders?
and i thought they looked good just after the dip covering dried.
Then you went to the mat finish, now even better…
Nice job John, love your tips…
i do like that blue and the colours you’ve chosen to frame it.
coming along nicely, much better after the matt coat.
Great project John.
Are the Ghost Tint paints an acrylic style paint still, or will you need white spirit to clean your brush after?
The freehand looked great especially the swords on the dreadnought.
They are acrylic 🙂 If it happens to dry on your brush then use some warm water dude.
Looks great! I tended to apply significantly more of the dip on my figures, following the army painter “splat-on” method, just to achieve some deeper recess shades and clearer transitions. I love the subtlety you achieved on the metal, but on the leather I feel a bit more would have given it more depth. Also, it flows even nicer, when you first apply a “layer” of white spirits first and let the dip blend with it. The technique certainly gets a bad rep given all the different ways it can be used in and the wonderful results it achieves.
I think your right on the leather, but maybe not for the same reason. I maybe could have afforded to use a darker brown for it and let the dips subelty just compliment it rather than relying on it to add a significant shade 🙂
