Ghost tints are pretty much the same idea as the GW gem paints, other than for once GW is the cheaper alternative.
Word of warning with badger paints though, i have had issues with inconsistent shades between batches, i.e. same color different pots, different shades, possibly i got unlucky but its been enough for me to never use them again, and instead use tamiya clears and vallejo inks in place of their ghost tints (apart from plasma fluid, that is awesome for sci fi engine and techno widget glows)
you need to paint the hell blaster sergeants plaster rifle purity seal….
they are great looking.
Still not buying the “fleshtone”, maybe for zombies, not for humanity’s finest. Dip them already. With your fingers in the shots as comparison, they look sick or alien. Even the (truly) black skin of the Salamanders would be preferable (to me). Since they’re “Astral” Knights, why not a bluish skin tone? Barrels? Sorry, with WISIWYG (as in, what I see is what you get) all the bolt weapons would backfire and injure/kill their users. Those guns scream for drilled out barrels, especially since they have the flash holes through the sides of the barrels, already there. Black dots would look… Read more »
Please remember that these tutorials are for large armies and for “tabletop ready.”
Tipping the balance between tabletop and trophy are steps like drilling gun barrels etc.
