Seems to me that a flat tip brush instead of a round tip would have been easier to paint the white edging.
I do like how the silver and blue hues are turning out. I am waiting to see how they hold up under sealant and then how they handle being… handled.
I really like the way that blue went down in the end,
Giving me some great ideas for painting my Black Templars that I base coated with Testors Metallic Black spray paint. @johnlyons Any suggestions for highlighting the hard edges with a specific color?
@silverfox8 if you want to cheat, get some of vallejo’s metal medium and just use that, as its dries pretty transparent, you can just build up more layers to get shinier highlights
I approve this message 😀
w0000t 😀
I found some Deco Art Dazzling Metallic Ice Blue paint today at my on base Arts and Crafts store that I thought I might try. I’ve seen folks use blue to highlight black before.
Have not used the Vallejo’s metal medium. Since the base coat already has a metallic sheen to it do you think it will make the edges look any different?
@silverfox8 it will intensify the sheen on the edges, the more layers you apply the shinier it gets, rather than creating a highlight illusion through a progression through the spectrum to white/light tones. Using the metal medium will instead intensify the metallicness of the edges. As you are starting off with a metallic black to begin with you may find that a traditional black edge highlighting style will look a bit odd, especially when you start mixing different mettallic shades. If you feel that you need some blues or greys into the mix then i would just glaze a shade… Read more »
Awesome Thanks!
Those blue metallic’s are turning out very nicely, keep up the good work.
your making painting look more easy and fun to do john you will be taking Romain tittle soon?
It’s a good colour scheme and a great way to to tabletop, but you can use these mould lines to repel me like a cross to a vampire !
@elromanozo im glad you said it not me, im already feeling like an arse for going on about the undrilled barrels 😉
and John lost tip of brush somewhere too,
I really like the way these models are turning out. I want to do something similar but use red instead of the blue. Any advice?
@tathirach vallejo metal medium, add a drop of red ink or a red shade you like and mix, gets you a truly red metallic rather than a red silver, other wise if your airbrushing consider zenithing the shouldar pads and other red areas up to silver/chrome and then tinting with a red ink through the air brush, looks really nice, and is how a lot of metallic red blood angels are done it seems…
One of the steps that suprised me the most is choosing to paint the mechanics of the weapon black, leaving the body silver. I’m so used to having the mechanics metallic that it striked me hard.
Great proyect, love the muted colour scheme.
Was only going to watch two parts for now… now binge watching!
