Armoured by Faith… Shielded by Devotion…

So it's official!
Games Workshop has announced that in April we will see the release of the revised codex for the Grey Knights. Not only that, but they have confirmed that the Emperor's warrior elite will be making the long awaited move to plastic... so expect some waves of shining steel to hit the tabletop shortly after... just one more nail in the coffin of the Chaos Daemon armies I suppose!
There aren't many details at the moment... but speculation is rife... so let's speculate!
What do you guys think?
Are the Grey Knights going to be the next big thing?
Perhaps now would be a good time to stock up on Inquisitors?

now im stuck between choosing dark eldar or grey knights for my next army later on in the year what should i pick
Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and then the baby looked at me. Thats what I think the Gray Knights motto should be.
Some pictures of new models would be nice, GW can announce all they want. This just means that Necrons will be pushed back even more :’-(
i dont understand why the imperium needs grey knights to deal with daemons. anyone can shoot them to bits without their help. ooooh i cant wait to face off against an elite daemon fighting force with my daemons. after all things were to easy with that scattering deepstrike pish!!!!!! yep andy another nail in the coffin for sure……. how are they gonna make a daemons decent fight….. oh god they are gonna get cuffed even faster than normal…. and if matt ward is involved in the grey knight codex they will be invincible on the plus side my marine army… Read more »
this is not for the greater good…
The codex is Grey Knights, not Daemon Hunters; so that means they wont be just a demon fighting force. They’ll be able to fight all forms of chaos/xenos throughout the imperium. Lets hope to see plastic storm troopers along with plastic knights.
I personally wanna grab a box or two and use the bits to give some of my SM a more regal feel, but prolly not gonna find it in my heart to cut apart such beautiful models :D.
ITS ABOUT TIME! i have been waiting so long for this list to come out. i wanted another space marine list and i love these guys so so much. assassins are the best units in the game. and daemon hosts, both fantastic.
really? you wanted another marine list? what about the other 6 of them?
because heaven knows how the marine chapters are SO different…
After all they only all have the same basic core, with literally no variations.
Tactile, veterans, assault, heavy, and scout squads, terminators, rhino, land raiders…
the reason they keep doing this is because they don’t need to make new models to sell more.
GW continues to screw the gamer, and your encouraging them.
Why must the xeno’s be so forgotten…
sorry for the rant, it’s just I don’t think GW cares about us any more… it’s all about the money now.
I don’t think its really ‘about the money now’…when I was playing like 8 years ago space marines got updated the most often because they are the most popular, it is kinda understandable in my opinion too since why would they put extra time and money into races which make less money? Okay Dark Eldar and necrons I think is a bit inexcusable so in part I agree…Its just that they are naturally going to sell more SMs its logical.
hmm… games workshop seem to have finaly realized that some of the less used races need updates too. Now all they need to do is release more necrons.
Finally, for the glory of the Emperor!!! I,ve been playing some deamon hunters with my space marine army. Grey Knight Terminators are just great, but they could be a bit stronger(for the ammount of points they cost 45p per terminator). They look tough, that’s why they attract a lot of fire. Also, in my battles I found that they are not so good against anything else than deamons and a greater deamon can smoetimes chew them up and spit out without braking a swet. For the elite they tend to die quite easy. Some new Gery Knight unique characters would… Read more »
50 frigging euros on the GW website for a box of five plastic minis. That’s FIFTY, people.
And they’re space marines, as if marines needed the attention…
Are they THAT good ?
Great! Grey Knights really did need this update. Badly! Unlike Dark Eldar who were still quite strong with the old codex. Making good competitve, balanced armies for Grey Knights was painfully difficult. Hopefully GK’s will get more forms of Anti tank.
Slowly i lost all of my Fun with GW Games. Why again SM? In the background are so many cooler Races than that and when i take a look to the future i would say that the empire is save because there are no enemies left to fight. For Godsake bring Necrons, Tau and some new stuff to fight with . Iam tired to fight against anytype of SM.
Hurray!
hehe! more things to kill!!! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!
Seems like GW is finally starting to catch up to all the other playable races (for lack of a better term) in the 40k universe. Admittably the Grey Knights do look badass, and they do have an edge where it counts, but really I think that adding more bits to an already over-attentioned race is starting to show neglect. Plus now the other races are going to have to wait to catch up as well. You’d think that GW might have departments on the different races so that ideas can flow and models can be designed quicker and more efficient… Read more »
Ugh… Another space marine codex? I’m not going to complain, it’s nice their fixing up some of the older codex’s I mean I love 40k and all… But if I see another Marine codex I swear I’m going to scream and take my money somewhere else. I’m the only Xeno player in my club, seriously! it’s me V.S. 14 marine players (and a few guard players, but I’m not including them in the tally for dramatic effect.) My word GW, you put effort into creating a whole whack of Xeno races and then you leave us to rot! I count… Read more »
@fireball to be fair to GW the Grey Knights chapter did already have a codex in the form of the daemon hunters book.
True, but does that excuse them for making re-releasing another marine codex? Math time, this will be the 7th, 5th edition codex meaning that marines will now make up rough 60% of the “newest” codex’s (1[space marine] 2[space wolf] 3[blood angel] and 4[Grey knights]) of the remaining 7 4th edition codex’s there are 3 marine codex’s (1 [chaos marine], 2[Dark angels] and 3[Black Templar]) constituting for 40% of the older codex’s and of the 2 3rd edition codex’s only witch hunters and necrons remain. So if you put this all to a tally, this means that roughly 50% of the… Read more »
Three words :
Switch To Warmachine.
Better prices, better sculpts, better game. Unfortunately, less players…
omg. @ wildchevy there wont be any plastic storm troopers as they are the inquisition side of the dæmonhunters force.
@hudson grey knights are ordo malleus, they can ‘banish’ the dæmon forever into the warp, but just shooting the dæmons will only destroy their physical form. grey knights also have specifically anti dæmon psychic powers.
@fireball Grey Knights are not space marines. space marines are adeptus astartes, under the adeptus administratum. grey knights are the ordo malleus and come from a higher ‘rank’ than the adptus administratum. Grey Knights > Adeptus Admin > Adeptus Astartes
Whatever.
More of the same humans, on the same fanatical side for the same emperor, same basic design, same vehicles…
This is really “Narcissism of small differences”, as Freud would say.
actually grey knights are still space marines, they were made by the emperor just like the space marines were, its just that their role is different. They just specialise in getting demons http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Grey_Knights
Hudson was on about the rules and grey knights are spacemarines and always have been. None of the stuff you said to fireball makes any sense. If you’re going to just pick at other peoples comments at least know what you’re on about.
What are you talking about!!! of course they’re space marines! Jeesus! If you’re going to pick at people’s comments at least have a clue about what you’re talking about!
I think some players would have ‘two words’ for you 😉 Prices? Yes, a bit I think. Sculpts? Not. I like steampunk but most of the Wamrachine stuff looks lame imo. BUT it’s a matter of your personal taste. Better game? Yes, I think. It’s a large skirmish – It’s easier to make it good, and as far as I know Warmachine has some good game mechanics. But for me- the fluff is not that interesting, the setting is ok, but not awesome, some models are cool, others are repulsive, the game mechanics is tempting.. As for GK – I… Read more »
The sculpts are in the process of being redone… Only the old ones are worse than GW. The rest is all good… About the fluff, well, it’s a matter of taste, really. Both universes have their afficionados. The 40k fluff is, to some, fascisto-incoherent and borderline silly. While you may not like it, the Iron Kingdoms (Warmachines and Hordes universe) are part of a constantly evolving world, not just steampunk, but with its own feel and originaily. It also plays well with D&D as a thicker campaign setting than most. I know I’m going to get flamed for all this,… Read more »
as long as you are still allowed to attatch a squad or two to another imperial army i’m not all that bothered what happens to them
I agree that other races are a bit neglected. In my club there are no witchhunters and very little tau and necrons. I’d say that out of 10 players 4 are either ordinary SM or chaos space marines, then 3 out of 10 are imperial guard or other space marine armies like blood angles or space wolfes (especially blood angels) although I haven’t seen any black templars. My point is that only about 3 out fo 10 are xeno players and most of them are eldar. In addition there are no deamon armies, so I hopenew gery knights will be… Read more »
Other races are neglected such as DE and necrons, but its only natural for GW to put out what they know sells, however unfortunate this may be. I think its silly to keep saying ‘they’re just about the money’ because they’re a business ultimately, if they went out of money there wouldn’t be a hobby (well we could switch to other games, but GW is hugely important to the hobby) so yes there are things that could change but they need to be cut some slack (except for taking SO long to update some races, I’m sure it could have… Read more »
The thing is if the other army lists were more complete, they would sell more from the other races.
they would but it would still be a small amount compared to the amount of money space marines makes them: else why would they re-release space marines constantly and not xenos?
I knew it x)
I have only been looking at games sites for a few weeks now and the amount of comments i have read raging on GW only giving love to SM is doing my head-in if you don’t like it don’t read it.
on a lighter note this should be cool:)
The main issue is the GW give all their love to the SM and forget about the rest of the races.
