Two Armies Head Up Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition
May 26, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop didn't do much in the wake of Warhammer 40,000 7th Edition launching although they did unleash two big armies onto the pre-order section of their site. Strike Force Ultra and the Storm Scions for Space Marines and Astra Militarum are on the warpath...
Both of these seem to actually be rather reasonable deals and while I think you save a bit of money on both of them it is still a rather hefty chunk of cash. Saying that you will be pretty sorted when you pick one of these up.
As well as the actual armies there is a special Terminator Captain in the Strike Force boxed set. It appears as if this is the only way to get a hold of him at the moment but I don't think that's much of a problem - I'm not entirely sure I like the chap. It doesn't help that when they've painted his head it looks weird! His hair is pretty smooth...
What do you think?

I like the option of buying armies like this, but like you I also think it is a hefty start up cost, despite the value(?). Very cool to have a Terminator force however.
Shame that each box has one (or two) of the ugliest vehicles (imho) ever made by GW – Stormraven & Taurox Primes…
That Termie Captains artificially smooth haircut does look …odd…but of we must remember he is a plastic warrior afterall. =)
I see what you mean about that fella’s barnet. Has anyone tried using flock on it?
I’d be tempted to just paint it metal and make it look like it’s part of his bionic plating or something.

I agree with @spaced2020 . These army deals offer a good saving but they both contain things I wouldn’t want.
The limited edition marine captain also has a nice glossy hair do as well, maybe 7th ed is all about smoothness 🙂
Limited edition terminator in gimp mask and ball gag. Yours for only 200 smackeroos.
The Space Marine one if you bought a set of Dark Angels terminators would probably give enough bits to make a nice Deathwing Force though they couldn’t use the Stormraven in a ‘Bound’ list. Would make for a fun unbound setup though.
Neither set is good value, gone are the days that you could go into a GW store and get a good army deal……
Yeah well, I still can’t get over the fact that GW is releasing “ANOTHER” rule set for 40K without first making sure all of the armies are updated first. I guess I am just tired of throwing more money at something that seems they can never get right, hence all the constant changing of rules. Yup, I’m still irritated with these guys and haven’t given them anymore money. Don’t see that changing any time soon.
I thought that Captain’s head had a cap on it. That is supposed to be hair? There is absolutely no texture… The box sets do provide a pretty good savings. The SM one is basically a free Land Raider or Stormraven.
