The Adepta Sororitas Drop Into Warhammer 40,000 This Weekend

The Adepta Sororitas, the Sisters Of Battle, are going to be coming to Warhammer 40,000 with pre-orders for the new Army Set popping up this coming Saturday from Games Workshop.

The set comes with the new Codex for the Adepta Sororitas alongside a range of new miniatures. Leading the way will be a Cannoness but you'll also have Battle Sisters, Seraphim, Sister Repentia, a Penitent Engine and also a Mistress of Repentance as she would have been known back in the day.
I think the miniatures that they have been working on have been great to see come to life. For my part, I think they have managed to take a lot of what made the Sisters Of Battle cool, to begin with whilst also then working in some more modern elements to bring them into the fold alongside sensibilities in society. It just seems like a smart move.
I think you can see that in the Sister Repentia here where they have taken the style of the older models but gone with a different aesthetic. They are still mad looking and could do with a big dose of blood to seriously amp up the brutality levels.
Some of my favourite models are actually based on miniatures which came out not too long ago. Here we have the Seraphim which looks rather badass in my opinion.
I think one of the other things that draws me to the Adepta Sororitas is that they look pretty simple to paint. You add black, play around with some highlighting here and there and a few other block colours and you'd be ready to go. I am very tempted to give them a go in blood-red looking armour though, flipping the scheme to match one of the other Orders out there.
Faith & Fury + Brother Fighting Brother
As well as the pre-orders coming up for Adepta Sororitas we also have the book for Faith & Fury popping up in the mix. This will tell the next chapter of the unfolding Psychic Awakening saga in the grimdark future...
...and one of the key things is that as well as the release of the book they are also taking a moment to release some previously Starter Set bound armies for both the Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines.
This now gives you the options to play as a super stealthy looking Space Marine force led by their Lieutenant In Phobos Armour or perhaps the Chaos Space Marines which fight under the banner of the Master Of Possession.
You might remember these forces popping up before but now they have been given a new lease of life, offering up another avenue into the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. I think they actually work quite well as options for getting started, decidedly more than some of the other sets out there.
There is plenty to get excited about if you want to explore Warhammer 40,000 in more detail this weekend...

I think the Repentia would have looked better bare footed; the shoes make it look like she’s out for a jog rather than a frenzied sinner seeking penitence. ?
Yeah…the plugs in her arms and legs where her armor attaches are a nice touch, but it looks more like she just forgot to suit up before hitting the battlefield and happened to grab a chainsword. The classic Repentia had more of a “highland berserker” look to them, running into battle nearly naked with a crazy-huge sword.
Given that Sisters lack the black carapace I assumed the plugs on the new repentia were preparatory surgery to connect them into a penitent engine later on (should an engine lose it’s human component and become available for a replacement).
Ooh, good catch there. I didn’t think about that.
So how long until the “Buh, this is too expensive/I hate GW’s pricing/The models look stupid/Foot on X!” comments show up? Cynicism aside, the sisters look much better with a lick of paint on them. The new Repentia still don’t look very good, but everything else is looking nice and updates the classic aesthetic nicely.
@brennon I’d thought of them in red as well, partly as I already have a lot of Raven Guard, wanted contrast.
The new army boxes look good what are they going to be priced at 50/75 or 100?
ONE MILLION POUNDS! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Lol bargain!?
The Repentias are, for me, the low point of this box but still need one and ill order the new Rhino when it comes out. it’s just those awful designs on the Exorcist and the Immolator that are a complete pass.
Hmm. Not sure the Pyschic Awakening has anything for chapters beyond Black Templars and basic Space Marines. Oh well.
When I first heard about ‘Nuns in Space’ I was vaguely interested, but over the development period that interested has faded.
Got a feeling that box is going to be unpleasantly expensive (not Necro Dark Rising expensive) and as I have recently slapped a wad of cash to the aforementioned Necromunda release… I’ll abstain.
I’d be more interested in the sisters as a Kill Team perhaps and a more palatable price.
Kill Team rules were released for the Sisters in one of the latest White Dwarf issues, and you’ll be able to pick up a single unit for building your team in a month or so.
Thanks. I don’t get WD very often, so missed that issue, but they may PDF it eventually… Like they did with Genestealers.
Is it just me or does that Seraphim look familiar? I am sure I have seen her somewhere lol
Also, the curved flight stand looks really good
why they have such horrible accent?
Sounds good to my ears, but why do you have such horrible grammar? :p
Also looking at the Primaris collecting box, what ever happened to great big clunky jet packs? These days 40K is morphing from the old “we dunno how it works, but keep making it”, to advanced tech like anti-grav available almost freely within the Imperium. I remember Warren saying he didn’t like the new Primaris Grav tacks and treads were better, and I’d definitely have preferred the Seraphim with a good old fashion jetpack (along with jetpacks for the Primaris flyers in the collecting set)
The Seraphim jetpacks are still the old clunky style, they just have a different design in keeping with the Sisters’ aesthetic and the one in the photo looks smaller due to being zoomed out. The official reason for all of this advanced tech in the Imperium is that a) they have always had it in smaller amounts, i.e. space marine speeders, but now they’re employing it on a larger scale, and b) Cawl is implementing a lot of new and possibly xenos-desgined tech in the new Primaris to make them more effective. Some marines like the Suppressors do have the… Read more »
Not really ….

All these “vanes” and tiny modules just aren’t the same as the old “how does he stand up” Jetpacks of yore (they just seemed more “grimdark” and less “manga” inspiried). But this is just me being “grumpy” (but I would be looking at replacing the Seraphim jetpacks with older style jump jets and adding am “angel wing” icon)
Im struggling to unsee TGG models with this release, they look so similar. Will be interesting to see the price point of these too, my first thought was ‘man they have spaced those models out a lot on the box front to fill the space’
Glad thery have finally done SoB in plastic though, such a great faction.
Is the sisters box a direct only purchase or will I be able to buy it from you guys?
