New 40k Starter Sets & Lost Patrol Available From Games Workshop
June 12, 2016 by brennon
The folks at Games Workshop have some new ways for you to Get Started in the world of Warhammer 40,000 with two new sets. We have the Chaos Space Marines...
Which comes with a Terminator Armoured Chaos Lord alongside a group of ten Chaos Space Marines and finally a Helbrute for those of you who want to blast away your foes and punish them a little more.
Following along from them we also have one for the Astra Militarum. Here is the Militarum Tempestus set.
This set comes with a crack squad of soldiers including a ten man set of Scions who have been split here into two teams of five. You also get the Commissar and the big Taurox transport to get them into battle.
Both of these sets come with Formations allowing you to use these armies right out of the box. So, with Troop options, something big to get stuck into and a character these could be a good way to get started.
Lost Patrol
As well as the Starter Sets we also have Lost Patrol now available for pre-order via their webstore.
If you're interested in learning more about this game then you can come and check out our Unboxing and Painting VLOG on this game where we pimped it out and created some great 3D set on pieces.
Will you be getting started in Warhammer 40,000?

After years away from 40k the Imperial Guard Stormtrooper(I’ll never use the new name, NEVER) deal actually looks pretty tempting…
The transport is effectively free with this deal.
… but the combination of words “Imperial Guard Stormtrooper” cannot be protected in this context like the word “Scion” can…
,,,please adjust your attitude to comply with GW terms of use.
I think they can sue you now for using a trademarked name in a text message… If you look into a mirror and say “Citadel” three times, an evil lawyer appears.
Yeah, same here. I’ve had a small IG kill team list that I have been working on for a while and the missing component has been some good looking and affordable minis for IG Vets in carapace. Anvil just came out with their very nice regiments set (£30) and I was all set to order them.. but GW just put their Scions back into the race!
Order through someone like Triplehelix games for a discount. I’ve seen these for as low as £37.50 a box which is pretty decent value.
Yeah I believe Dark Sphere also have the Start Collecting boxes at 37.50 as well, although by the time you add shipping it generally evens out with places like Wayland.
So doe sit really mean BoW recieved a preview of Lost Patrol in advance ? Cool !
They did indeed 🙂
Guess thats a win for every side involved. Us the fans, BoW and GW, after all we all are intertwined in a way or another. Lets hope they continue this kind support. And all things considered, GW got a lot of coverage for their product, costing them what ? 10 pounds ? : D
The old joke would be more in C&D letters, but this new and reformed GW seems to try not to alienate their customers. .. novel idea
Those new Start Collecting boxes are looking rather good.
is it me or do these chaos space marines look a step backwards compared to the dark vengeance ones? o.0
Consider these are much much older models than the DV sculpts. You are still pretty much right, they need a revamp.
First, revamp the codex.
The imperial guard troops look good but still not keen on the Brinks/ Loomis wagon.
Use the treads to make a couple Ork trukks into halftracks, use the Orky wheels on the Taurox, ad armor plating and a deffrolla plus a looted tank turret. Instant battlewagon. In fact, I am tempted to buy the kit just for the bonus lootable vehicle.
The guys in blue armour look good. I can see myself picking some up if I ever get back into 40K.
Anyone know if they will be doing starters with all the other races as well?
I think they will eventually. Eldar and Dark Eldar sets are next. The Eldar one is disappointing, but the Dark Eldar set is fantastic and well worth buying multiples of.
