40k Helbrutes & Mighty New Supplement On The Way
March 4, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop are backing the Ruinous Powers come March 15th with a round of Chaos Space Marine releases and repacks surrounding the rather cool sounding supplement for the Crimson Slaughter. Bell of Lost Souls picked up a list of new releases coming our way...
Above is the leaked cover of the new White Dwarf showing off the Helbrute kit that we'll be able to pick up in the middle of March. It certainly is awesome looking and I want one (well, three) of my own very much so. It's going to be cool seeing all the conversion and weapon opportunities.
As well as the Helbrute Chaos Space Marine players will also be getting Codex: Crimson Slaughter which allows you to boost the faction that comes in the Dark Vengeance set for Warhammer 40,000. The Crimson Slaughter used to be the Crimson Sabres until they turned to the forces of darkness.
This also comes on the back of a new bundled attack force and a bunch of repacked miniatures. The real new pieces are of course the Codex and the Helbrutes so it will be interesting to see what this new supplement actually contains.

Nice to see a real kit that might have all the weapon options.
Glad to finally see the long overdue Helbrute kit, might actually get one in the future. I wonder how magnetizable these will be though given the organic nature of Chaos stuff. Still, definitely interested in this.
I’m getting quite tired of GW’s apparent need to release new models with these horrendously overpriced supplementary Codex’s. It’s about time they ditched the outdated Codex concept and switched to something more elegant, like a digital army creation system that could be constantly updated, or do something even crazier like releasing the rules for new miniatures with the model, like most other wargaming companies do…
Once upon a time GW used to do that kinda…
Unit cards for units in 40K and fantasy would be a step in the right direction. It would make it easier for players to reference units instead of flicking through the codex. What about a War Room style app for 40K?
Definitely; the games have shifted from having individual stats and rules for every weapon to a system of keywords and tags; being able to construct armies and reference information via an app or a card-type system would be a real godsend for a complex game like Warhammer or 40k. There’s a reason the concept has been so popular with other companies, after all. It wouldn’t be so bad if GW didn’t insist on charging £30 for an army list. It would also suit the move to more regular releases – putting out new rules with units would mean they can… Read more »
I definitely do not want to go down the route of having to buy the official miniatures in order to get the rules. I’m slowly building an army where many of my miniatures are kit bashes and conversions from several different kits. The fact that I can buy the rules them build the miniatures I want to go with them is a major draw for me.
From a painter’s point of view, these models are pretty damn sweet. Not too much “daemon” – just right.
