Well I’m glad AJ is continuing this series… It’s the least he could do after cancelling poor Warren’s field trip to Cadia.
Seriously though , I love these always a fresh perspective…… I like watching them .. then downloading the podcasts for long solo car trips. Cheers Lads. Many Thanks.
And the Tau are having a picknick on a grassy field with a single tree.
I’m interested to see how GW manage to fit the Tyranids into the 40k End Times because they’re not really a natural fit into all of this. Before anyone gets upset that I’m writing off an entire faction (two if you count Genestealer Cults) bear with me. When you look at Orks, Eldar, Tau and even Necrons, like the Imperium they are native to the Galaxy – they are a part of it. So it makes perfect sense that the events of the Gathering Storm would involve them and have some kind of effect on them, even motivating them to… Read more »
That would sort of make sense, as aren’t the Tau meant to be based on the other side of the galaxy with no warp drive.
They do have some warp drive but it’s limited and slow. But Tau vs Tyranids fighting on the fringe of the Galaxy is still a bit of a sideshow really, a second apocalyptic storyline developed specifically to include one or two factions that would otherwise not be involved. I’m not suggesting that either of these factions be excluded only that it could be hard to include them, specifically the Tyranids, without it seeming very contrived or detracting from the main story. I would actually be quite interested to see how Roboute Giulliman would react to the Tau because, as an… Read more »
Still alien scum though
They’re not even my kind of scum!
(to paraphrase the revered philosopher Jabba)
Maybe Abaddon’s 13th Black Crusade is really not an attack on Terra at all and is all about defending Terra from the Tyranid threat?
Turns out he’s not such a-bad-un after all. Boom boom.
That would certainly be a huge plot twist but it would also feel too contrived. Abbadon’s hatred of the Imperium predates the Imperium’s knowledge of the Tyranids. Unless of course Horus’ plan from the start was to save Humanity from the Tyranids. Titanic struggles between good and evil never get old but for me the bad guys turning out to be good guys using dark powers for good ends is a cliché.
I didn’t actually say I had an answer to this quandary, only that I thought it was one.
Maybe Horus knew that the long lost relatives of the Megarachnids would one day come to avenge their murdered kin.
That is a possibility but it’s the Clichéd “bad guy was really a good guy all along but he knew some dark secret”. It’s a bit like the theory that in Star Wars the Emperor was really a good guy building the Death Star to ward off some powerful extra-galactic threat. No. Horus is what he is because of his jealousy. The Emperor is what he is because of his hubris. Let the bad guys be the bad guys (interestingly this is the real difference between Chaos and Tyranids – Chaos are evil and acting out of malice, Tyranids are… Read more »
I’m hoping at least one of the bad guys turns out to be a good guy (Ahriman possibly) and one the other way (Imagine the fury if it was Guilliman) 😀
It seems to me that Ahriman was always portrayed as a bit of a victim, someone backed into a corner and forced to take very desperate actions. And I can see Giulliman not so much being a bad guy but not necessarily being what the Imperium wants him to be because the Imperium is not what he thinks it should be. But I think if all of those Primarchs come back without the Emperor there to keep them in check that old grudges and prejudices will surface.
The Tyranid response to anything can always be summed up in three words: Nom nom nom 😉
I’d love to see the Tyranids take a bite of Khorne….:)
Chaos vs Tyranids is basically the immovable object vs the irresistible force. Both forces have, IMO, been a little over-hyped in terms of their threat.
the elders may have build the gate thingy on Cadia as the power of the gate may have attracted the eye of terror to it so it wouldn’t have mattered which planet they were made on @aj
I’ve collected Inquisitor Greyfax as well and placed her in my stasis display cabinet 🙂
Also does that mean that if Trazyn is a collector, he isn’t a gamer?
I love this series. It’s such a great guide into the lore. Thank you.
You know what, they could raise the Emperor, and the Emperor could surprise everyone by setting off to fight the Tyranid swarms first, rather than waiting for “A badd ‘un” to come and lay siege.
“Sorry, Abby. I’ve gone off to do some extermination in the eastern rim. Sit tight, though, because I’m bringing these Tau chaps and all their lovely gunda- Titans back with me.”
Abbadon arrives at Terra to read a big sign that says ‘Out to lunch – back in 30 mins’
