Great video guys, I am also thinking about tank shock in a different way now. Thanks
I am absolutely loving these videos guys! As someone new to 40k, I’m loving this intro to less considered tactics. Keep it up guys, I have to say this series is something to look forward to on Mondays.
I remember having a game way in back in the days of 2nd edition, I ploughed my rhino into a unit of hormagaunts, the GW staff member I was playing against was sure id committed tankacide, but nope, ploughed on through taking a load of the hormagaunts with it. Win 😀
Another great video!
Just loving it..thank you for doing this chaps.
This show alone is worth becoming a backstage member!
Didn’t read the blurb before I watched, wondered why we were talking about Water Colour moments…..thought you were looking for a slot on Sky Arts….(not a comment on the accents I promise, just my duff hearing I guess).
Anyway, interesting vid that makes you think over those mechanics in other games that you just don’t think through to their next level conclusions….
Great show today guys. As much as I enjoyed the vids on the Chaos powers it’s this sort of stuff that I was really looking forward to.
I was a big fan of the Tank Shock special rule. I think we homebrewed it a little and merged it with some of the rules from Gorkamorka. A definite “watercooler” moment that I still remember was my brother ramming my Dreadnought with a Griffon and a Basalisk and having them both wrecked while my Dread walked away uscathed!
My orks love to ram stuff! The deff rolla used to be the go-to upgrade but it was unfortunately nerfed after 5th edition…
🙁
There are still a few funny gubbins you can attach to your vehicules though! Add a wreckin’ ball for a bit more punch; in the shooting phase, it does d3 hits (can’t remember the STR and AP, sorry…) on a unit 3 inches away so it’s a nice follow-up to a ram or tank shock.
I agree, the deff rolla used to be fearsome. I once lost an entire unit of Ogryns to a battlewagon. Those s10 hits caused a lot of instant death!
Yeah… Now, you only get to do some damage if a model is elected to do Death or Glory attack…
🙁
great show, never really considered tank shock like that. I was in the Warren camp of tank shock is all about running people over. Quick question for you, if you tank shock a unit with heavy weapons but are not relentless and they make their save and move out of the way can they still fire the heavy weapons next turn?
More of these lesser used rule ideas
Yup. I’m with you @bigbadbazz !
Best video in this series so far.
Second edition 40k – my imperial guard always tried to run-over Tyranids – think i got the inspiration from Aliens 🙂

I really really like the fact that AJ has the rules right in front of him, references them and even reads them to double check or inform us.
Agreed! I’ve seen so many videos where the guys were all mixed up in rules… There nothing bad in keeping your references handy!
now that was a good video, always though it was a death or glory move to ram.
Aj never thought about that, good call.
A bit of a change of pace from the last few 40k videos, but equally enjoyable. You’ve readymade me think of tank shock as a useful tactic to, at the very least, move my opponents models around a bit.
Yup – love the idea of digging into some of the rules, esp how to use those rules well tactica.
Hope this doesn’t mean you’re going to forget to cover the Emperor for us.
And don’t forget the xenos!
If you ever need a little help with the ork fluff, let me know, @aj86 !
When I was playing 40k always payed extra for the “desperate anti tank power fist” of my sergeants xD Love the Death or Glory! rule, so cinematic, so cool.
Great series and great videos. It’s very funny almost hearing the gears of Warren’s head been setting in motion, obviously with some new and bizarre tactic xD
Jack Palance got crushed by tank in that old war film Attack
Kharn got run over by a landraider in one of the HH novels I think he got stuck on its dozer spikes…
a video on infiltrating scouts or kill teams would be cool!
A really informative video about the game mechanics. This series is great.
Great video for gamers bad video for lore seekers. I am one of those lore seekers. But it is an enjoyable episode even when there is no lore 🙂 Great video quality and AJ’s knowledge of tactics makes it a good episode for warhammer 40K players. My only suggestion, some small lore additions please.
Ohh don’t worry about that 😉
Lore starts again on Monday 🙂
One thing that wasn’t mentioned was that a model must first go the least amount of distance to not be under the tank. This means you can push models into impassable terrain or even other units and destroy them
That was some very cool info! As I am a bit lax in reading the rules when I get the new rulebooks (I always head to the fluff and make the models :D) I’m glad to find out that you can do these things on 40K, because they make sense. You would use your tank to ram into things and scare off troops. Look forward to the next rules tip AJ! 🙂
