@aj86 BA’s currently don’t have access to centurion armour, stalkers and hunters, storm talons and something else (storm eagles probably) codex marines get access too, as far as im aware from a fluff point of views its as punishment from mars for not sharing the baal predator and overcharged engine STC. From a practical point of view its probably to balance BA’s otherwise they would have all the toys and special units (death company, sanguinary guard, sanguinary priests, furosio dreads, baal predators, overcharged engines etc.) From a fluff point of view pretty sure i read somewhere that its not actually… Read more »
Very entertaining show again guys! I bought one of these guys recently, but I’m planning to convert him into a Dark Angel chief apothecary. @aj86 I think the name of the gland you were searching for is the Progenoid Gland. The Apothecary will do what he can to heal a wounded marine, but if he is beyond all assistance the Apothecary will give the marine the Emperors Peace (a bolter round to the temple) and remove the Progenoid glands. There is a component of the Narthecium called the Reductor, it specifically is designed to assist in removing the Progenoid glands… Read more »
Sanguinary Priest’s can only have Jump Packs (15pts) or Space Marine Bike (20pts). Not allowed TA since 6th. I was halfway through turning a Space Hulk BA into tank priest when they did that. However, for an 85pts priest put him on a bike (20pts) with Auspex (5pts) and he can be a very good Helper/Healer as aswell as his +1WS and Feel no Pain to the squad, he can not shoot, instead target an enemy unit with 12″ and take -1 from there cover save. This can help against those Jinking or well entrenched units, or effectively take away… Read more »
Also, loving the show, may I suggest for any Imperial players, whatever your faction. Legion of the Damned, 3++ marine that walk on to the battlefield, seeming straight from the fires of hell, with some kit they can even give the 2+5++ storm sheild termis a good scrap, and 1 squad is a battle brother ally. Or, for a veteran gun line, Militarum Tempest Scions. They have a mini-dex and hot-shot lasguns/Volley guns are a BS4 shot 18″ S3 AP3!!!! Not the strongest but should scare any marine armour… And if you want to throw more than a couple of… Read more »
I use Sang Priests a lot. A priest on a bike with a libby on a bike in a squad of bikes makes for a very gnarly squad that attracts a lot of shots and can take some decent punishment.
The old White Dwarf Compendium had the original stuff on Space Marine biology –
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30708/warhammer-40000-compendium
The source of the gene-seed in spacemarines is two replicating organs one at the base of the throat the other buried inside the chest these (progenoid) organs absorb free DNA strands for growing new implants or the organs can be removed from dead marines to be placed in new future marines.
I think only one organ is needed to transform a marine so one death can make two new marines with the other organs being placed on the candidate by earlier operations during the initiations.
yeah i always thought they were squishy glands
i think the old lore said that a legion could rebuild its numbers by implanting progenoids in vat-grown test-slaves (?)
errm…. sorry warren he can’t have terminator armour (or artificer armour or a inv. save item, I think it’s to keep him squishy enough)
Ok just looking through the different battle brothers I could stick this guy in. I came across the iron hands space marine chapter, their chapter tactics states they get a 6+ FNP or a +1 to FNP roll if they already have FNP from somewhere else. So does that mean if I stick this priest in any squad with chapter tactics (iron hands), they will get a 4+ FNP. So if I put the priest in say a terminator squad the squad would get its 2+,4++ and a 4+ FNP and the priest would only gets 2+ and 5+ FNP.… Read more »
TA from memory is only 2+,5++ but the 4+ FnP is right, as i would read it, 5+ FnP +1. The priest is only in normal 3+ marine armour, that’s why the T5 with a bike seems a good option. Then he’s a bit harder to insta kill, but not necesarily that good for a challenge. If you really want him in the scrap an other CC kitted character could be good. A basic sergent can take the challenge instead. But a TA chaplin WILL do better, and both can go in a squad, gets a bit pricey but you… Read more »
*Zealot – squad re-roll all HITS in 1st round of CC*
Sorry
speaking for my avatar – just seems wrong that Sanguinary Priests would hang about with Ogryns and not Blood Angels scouts 🙁
Didn’t NinjaBread draw ‘Blood Angel Captain Dracula on giant vampire bat’ (?)

I completely agree that the idea of things being deployed in a certain way may be in the rules but against the fluff/lore of the units. As far as I know there is nothing against mechanicus/scatari getting on board a baal engined transport in game, but the history would say the BA wouldn’t allow it and the Mechanicus would want to take the tank and get it back to mars. With that said, in the middle of a battle if the BA have mainly death company and dreadnoughts, then say 2 5 man squads of scouts for troops. Well, a… Read more »
Blood Angel aspirant recruitment station on a hive world team up with Adeptus Arbites bullgryns to fend of a genestealer uprising…
the medic would be there testing aspirants and the ogryns keeping order between the gang-members
Great show.
I´m getting more and more into WH40K. Never care much about the fluff. But now I´,m even reading Horus Heresey. Just half of the first one, getting to know Gavriel.
The Horus Heresy is very well written from what I’ve experienced. Should throw a recommendation out for the audio book versions as well, great for in the car.
The first 3 are, as well as some other stand out titles in the series, but a lot are very average to poor at best in terms of writing i find, would love some established sci fi authors to be given a title or 2 to contribute to the series, although i doubt they would want to be restrained by cannon which all the BL authors are…
Of the Horus Heresy its the first 3 audiobooks only I’ve been through. Talking to people who’vr read a lot more than me Abnett and McNeill are some of the black library’s top line author’s, I think that Swallow did a good job in the 1st BA omnibus.
Best to mention not to exclude the basic codex as a good start for background, as most all have 10k+ year timeline and you’ll get at least a few paragraphs on the heroes that are miniatures.
