Another great 40k charted 🙂
Always makes me think how vast the imperium must be if there is less than 1 marine per imperial planet, assuming all loyalist chapters were at full strength then you would be looking 1,000,000 marines total. Then again when you think that there are possibly at a conservative estimate 40 billion earth size planets in the milky way then i guess in galactic scales the imperium is tiny!
I enjoy learning about 40k, it makes me thinking of my Army, wich i love, don´t know why.
I´m starting to read Horus Heresy. and I Iiking it. But what I´really want is Imperial guard books.
I´ve got the two firsts of Gaunt´s ghosts. But i want more.
Wich ones do you mention in the video A.J.?. 14 hours?. Didn´t get the first one.
Last thing. Is there any Vostroyan book?.
Thanks in advance
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Rebel_Winter_(Novel) There’s this one but it’s quite old. Remembered it from a while back popping up in a friends collection on the Vostroyans.
Ah ha – BL link http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/rebel-winter-ebook.html
its called fifteen hours. Its quite a bleak story. worth a read though!
Gaunt’s Ghosts is probably one of the most consistently excellent series in the Black Library. Definitely make it a priority to hunt down the ones you haven’t read (And the tie-in novel Double Eagle). And if you don’t mind taking a step back from the seriousness of the Grimdark and having a little humour in your books the the Ciaphas Cain novels are well worth a look. Or if you want to see just how crappy life can be at the bottom of the pile then the Last Chancers trilogy will give you an insight into life in a penal… Read more »
I love me a good guard novel. As @irredemable said Gaunts ghost series and the Caiphas(sp) Cain books are great. Those for me need to be at the top of the reading list for guard books. @warzan and @aj86 would it be worth doing a couple of vids as A guide to what books you could read for more flavour on what you’ve discussed this group of vids? For example the shira calpurnia novels are 40k crime thrillers and go into detail on the arbites, rouge traders, astropaths and daily imperial life on this one world. If you are already… Read more »
This is a cool idea. Will look into this!
@warzan Something you may like, two recent books released by BL, The Beast Arises, based after the Horus Heresy. The Assasin Temples was made by the emperor to oversee the High Lords of terra and the Gramd Master can sanction the assassination of the High Lords. This also left the High Lords assassinated after e Grand Master went nuts! …….awesome!
Very good! Only thing I’d point out is that as a veteran guard player myself, the Guard are still the elite of non-augmented human forces – far from them being the dregs of a planet’s military resources they are the absolute best, much like our own elite units like the Marines for example (which makes the waste of life even worse IMO!!). Best way to represent a planetary defence force would be with Imperial Guard Conscripts, the young, the old and the infirm left behind to defend the planet while the very best get shipped off elsewhere. That’s not to… Read more »
Thanks everebody.
Rebel Winter is what I,m looking for. Ben.
I will try to find any reference for Vostroyans not wearing red, so I can paint mines in Napoleonic russian green. The Old Guard.
Although I will have a look at Ciaphas Cain. Humour and 40K, sounds like a winning team for me.
If I remember rightly if a Nagivator looks at you with his third eye you die.
They can indeed

I think Tarkin sums it up nicely

Fear will keep the local systems in line.
Another entertaining vid thanks guys.
I need to avoid watching these before bed cause now I just want to put some minis together 🙂
A good one guys.
40K millennium seems such a happy place to stay with all the worst bits of Nazi Germany, cold war Russia with the security of a bank in a prison.
The 13th legion is a good read about a penal unit sent on suicide missions to redeem themselves to be returned to their old units.
Fun and entertaining as always 🙂
I never know that there is an Temple for mass manipulation. That sounds so cool.
Is this Hero Marine codex available anywhere, be great start for a narrative campaign I am planning with the kids to get them into syfy gaming. Will be using my massive guard army split into 2 acting as the allies and axis, be great to drop in a handful of marines to cause havoc.
warren that army you made ages ago was basically deathwatch wasn’t it really.
