GW Running 40k & Age Of Sigmar Community Painting Competitions
June 2, 2016 by brennon
Over on both the Facebook Pages for both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar the folks at Games Workshop are now running a pair of Community Painting Competitions so that you can get some kudos AND win yourself a prize too...
The theme for the Warhammer 40,000 competition is Space Marines and is focused on the infantry of the Angels of Death. For Age of Sigmar they are focused in on Silver Tower and Warhammer Quest.
All you have to do is post your images into the comments thread over on their Facebook Pages and you could be in with a chance. They have also provided this handy PDF on how to Photograph Models so if you're stuck for the right techniques you can check this out.
Will you be giving this a go?

interesting can’t see what the prize is.
I might enter anyway. Probably do one of the silver tower heroes
I am glad they are doing this sort of thing even if there isn’t a prize I think it is a great step in the right direction 😀 I mean more community involvement is always goo.d
Err… What the heck is ‘the “Space Marine” category’ meant to describe? Does it have to be an actual Space Marine? May it be any Model with Power Armour or Terminator Armour? What about 30K, Chaos & Renegade Marines and old models? Are conversions accepted (only GW parts, rest assured)? What then concerning Marines without armour and less conventional base miniatures for the armour – e.g. Sigmarines or others like Chaos Warriors etc.? Btw, Angels of Death – I feel that term is reserved for Dark Angles and Blood Angles only. Isn’t it? And, do they allow conversions of the… Read more »
It specifies for the Space Marines in the image above that it’s an Infantry unit. Guess it’s open ended.
As for AoS I think as long as it’s a proper GW model it shouldn’t matter.
@brennon, I hope you understood my question about the Angels of Death expression the way it was intended: an honest question, and in no way anything like negative criticism. I have quite a – it seems very – nostalgic attachment to it as the title of the old codex and collective name for those two chapters. I don’t recall having encountered it as an expression for Space Marines in general. Thus I was a bit confused about the meaning here. If that offended you in any way, I am sorry and I’d like to apologize to you. Concerning the contest(s),… Read more »
Honestly – totally fine. Didn’t take it as anything heh 🙂
‘Angels of Death’ has always been used across the Space Marine chapters. Often when you come across it in the fluff it’s a term used by Guardsmen or Imperial citizens and (depending on your author) they wouldn’t know the difference between chapters. But the marines use it themselves, I know I’ve come across more than one Chaplain bellowing it as part of a sermon.
Very true, although it always makes me think blood and dark angels as that was the title of their 2nd ed codex…
Well, if that is the case then that’s what it is. Learned something new and most certainly I bow to that from now on (not that I had any say in this, anyway ;)). Maybe I am living in the past or even only a selective world. Perhaps it’s because I don’t read the novels. Or just because I am disconnected from GW’s publications nowadays. For me, personally, it will always be connected to that codex with the Death Company Chaplain on the cover and the Dark Angels illustrations by Mark Gibbons. But, that’s only me and doesn’t bother anyone… Read more »
it would be cooler if it was a kitbash/conversion thing
I find the tips on taking model pics to be a good help for some of us. Nice to see them do this type of thing now. It’s almost like they want to engage with us. Lets hope it proves to be true and this community engagement becomes the norm and sincere.
I would agree with @irredeemable on the Angels of Death thing, knit picking an old codex title and saying Angels of Death only applies to two chapters is a little silly.
It’s nice that they are doing this but those categories seem really limiting. Only single model Space Marine for 40k and only heroes from Heroes of the Silver Tower box for AoS.
It’s not a Golden Daemon competition, it’s a monthly bit of fun to show off some of the communities work. The categories will be linked to something brand new, I imagine, because it helps to show off that new product more (Silver Tower) or something popular (Marines).
