New Armies Muster For 15mm Ancient Warfare With Forged In Battle
January 31, 2017 by brennon
Forged In Battle has now added to their 15mm Ancient range, War & Empire, with a whole host of new releases so you can muster an army to conquer the world.
Whilst you're getting a look at some of what's on offer here the new releases cover a LOT of different factions...
- 1st Century Roman Legions
- 2nd Century Roman Legions
- 3rd Century Roman Legions
- Dacians
- Saxons
- Franks
- Picts
- Goths
- Visigoths
- Vandals
- Dacians
- Sassanids
- Blemye
So, there should be something for everyone. The Forged In Battle range is rather awesome, it has to be said, and features some great characters and units packed with detail.
I'm sure that someone more versed in Ancient History than I will be able to place these miniatures more accurately but it looks like not only have the catered to the Roman Empire but plenty of their enemies too with a robust selection of warriors.
It would pay to dive into their collection and see what takes your fancy. In particular, I was rather taken by these War Elephants!
Elephants were a decidedly double-edged sword in battle. If you weren't careful they might end up just rampaging through your own army and causing chaos!
What do you think?

Looks great. Their KS was the only KS I have ever regretted not backing
If I hadn’t already invested heavily in a dozen 1/72 kits for Greeks, Macedonians etc… I’d be plundering their range right now!
I got some of the 1st century romans but really struggling to paint them any advice would be of help.
what are you after, painting techniques for 15s or colour schemes?
I spray mine halford grey, wash with a black Vallejo shade ( very light so it mostly goes into the creases but picks out the raised areas). paint the model in flat colours and give it either a W&N wash of nut brown or AP strong tone ink or what ever the GW equivilant is or use a thinned down AP dip. You can add highlight if so wish before the wash
It works on 6 or 10mm so dont see why it wouldnt on 15mm
Its help with painting.
Those do look great.
These are damn fine minis….. like I used to watch the adults play with when I was a little kid ….. ahhh… they were beautiful times
Oh, they look really cool.
Maybe I should have added that I have never backed a KS
