Tin Man’s Digital Warlock Of Firetop Mountain Kickstarter Is Live
October 30, 2015 by brennon
The story may be familiar to those who have a past with Fighting Fantasy but Tin Man are now on Kickstarter to fund the digital version of The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain with an new combat system but the same awesome story...
The Tin Man team are working alongside Otherworld Miniatures as well to produce a range of digital sculpts in game that have the same hand crafted feel as those you would see on the tabletop. The game itself seems to be doing exceptionally well in terms of presentation and aesthetic and this campaign looks to seal the deal.
There are a variety of different pledge levels which range from simply getting the game into your hands to designing a dungeon room with the creators and putting yourself into the world as a character. The games fighting system is one of bluffing and anticipating the enemy moves ahead of time so combats are resolved quite quickly it seems.
As well as Warlock of Firetop Mountain the team are also planning to expand on this world with Citadel of Chaos, Deathtrap Dungeon and City of Thieves in the same style later on down the road.
I think this looks like it could be an awesome new take on a classic.
What about you?

Now this is where a representation of a tabletop Dungeon crawler in a digital game doesn’t work for me. I don’t want digital representations of static based miniatures ‘hopping’ down a virtual dungeon when I could have real miniatures on my tabletop dungeon board/terrain or a fully articulated character in a game like Diablo, Divinity:OS, Neverwinter Nights, etc. Perhaps this will appeal to other people but for me the short clips of ‘hopping’ based miniatures looks…silly. 😀 That said it looks like the kickstarter has funded already, so kudos to Tin Man for recognizing there is a market for this… Read more »
Interesting take by scanning physical minis and using them in a digital game. Does this mean Otherworld will be releasing tabletop versions to go with it? 🙂
