Delve Into The Medieval World Of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
February 27, 2014 by crew
Kingdom Come: Deliverance was recently funded over on Kickstarter and my word it did well, raising well over 3 times what it was aiming for.
So what is it then? It’s an open world RPG set in the Medieval Europe and features a none-linear story combined with realistic combat in both small and large scale confrontations. They even have Daniel Vávra, award winning designer from the Mafia games, working on their story.
“A first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. A humble, young blacksmith loses everything to war. As he tries to fulfill the dying wish of his father, Fate drags him into the thick of a conspiracy to save a kidnapped king and stop a bloody conflict. You will wander the world, fighting as a knight, lurking in the shadows as a rogue, or using the bard’s charm to persuade people to your cause.”
Sounds pretty cool. The stretch goals have also added female playable characters and dog companions as well as specialist motion capture equipment the likes of which was recently used on Ryse.
You can check out some live stream footage showing off the game above.

Sorry, but you lost me at “first-person”. For some reason I’ve just never liked first person games. I want to see my character running round and interacting with the world.
The main problem I have with this game is the um… “acting”. The Olde English/ Shakespearean dialogue comes across as just silly to me. Made worse by it sounding like they grabbed some interns and told them to read from the script and just printed that take.
Most of the voices and such are place holder at the moment. After a while he explains that it’s all basic at the moment and it’s a very old build compared to where they are now. Essentially yes, it was a bunch of office monkeys doing the voice acting heh!

Ah. I must have missed that in the video. Complaint revoked for now then.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this game for sure. It has its “meh” moments with the voice acting, but I imagine that the game is pre-alpha, and pretty much everything is just a place holder until the game is finished. This genre of realistic dark medieval rpg is almost dead, this looks to bring it back. Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea this existed.
