Batman Reveals the Origins of Arkham
May 21, 2013 by dracs
For those of you who do not already know, the last couple of years have seen probably the best super-hero video games ever made, namely Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Now we have had our first glimpse at the next instalment; Arkham Origins!
So why should this interest us tabletop gamers? Well a) because the previous two are excellent games and b) it probably means that we could be seeing new models and scenarios for Knight Models tie in game to Arkham City.
So what does this reveal trailer show us? Well in terms of plot all that we really see is that a bunch of super assassins are gunning after Batman in the pay of a mysterious masked man.
But what about those super-assassins? Well first up we have Deathstroke, a master combatant and mercenary. He is thwarted by Deadshot, the greatest living marksman who turned up in the previous game Arkham City in a minor role.
And what about their masked employer? By the look of it he may be Black Mask, a mob boss who made himself a black skull mask from the wood of his father's coffin. Later it became burned into his skin, although this doesn't look like it has happened yet.
No doubt we can expect to see even more when the game appears in October and hopefully there will be more new minis to accompany these video game designs of the characters.

Sounds like a good step for Batman, even though it’s not the same company handling the game. Should be fun though from what we’ve seen here, even if it is just a cinematic.
As Sam says above, Knight Models have some fun stuff coming up!
As long as Kevin Conroy is still voicing the bat I am happy
He is yeah. It wasn’t set that he was doing it but apparently he has been doing voice over work for it over the past few months.
It’s being reported that Roger Craig Smith (Ezio in Assassin’s Creed II) is voicing this younger Batman and Troy Baker (Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite) The Joker. Either Conroy is appearing in this game as the older Batman or perhaps he’s working with Rocksteady on a next-gen Arkham sequel?

@brennon It is firmly confirmed that Conroy is not voicing the lead role in the game. He made some statements publicly about working on a new “Arkham game”, but the developers of this particular game have definitely confirmed Smith as the voice of Batman. What’s weird is that no one at Rocksteady will confirm if Conroy is voicing another character in this game, nor will they confirm or deny if he’s even appearing in this game at all. So far, Conroy is the only person who has said he is in the game. The developers so far will neither confirm… Read more »
Oh yeah, and apparently Harley Quinn’s voice actor, Arleen Sorkin, will not be playing her in the new Arkham game either. This is really terrible because the character—I think the only character actually created for the animated series—was literally written with her voice in mind.
Harley’s voice actress changed between Arkham Asylum and Arkham City too, so that isn’t huge. I didn’t think that they would be putting the Joker in this game, so while I am happy to see the torch being passed on I am really disappointed that it won’t be Mark Hamill anymore. Best Joker ever!
@dracs
I had not actually noticed that in Arkham City. Just looked it up: Tara Strong. I’m surprised because I thought the Harley voice in AC was the original actress. So I guess that change isn’t as bad as I thought because she apparently pulled it off. Though, I’m kind of disturbed now that there are two women out there who can pull off that voice.
And time to get my nerd cap on.
The “mysterious gangster” is Black Mask, one of the lesser known but just as dangerous gang bosses of Gotham. Fighting him in the snow sword and fist is Deathstroke, and I believe the last assassin may be Dead shot, not too sure there.
Yeah though as I said in the article it looks as if this could be before he had his mask scorched into his face. He had a brief cameo in Arkham City too so it will be good to see his role expanded upon.
I thought Deathstroke was Red Hood voiced by Jensen Ackles again
