April 25, 2018 by brennon
The premier vampire role-playing game from White Wolf is going to be getting a new outing within the World Of Darkness. White Wolf will be bringing 5th Edition Vampire: The Masquerade to the tabletop with Modiphius distributing the books.
"Vampire: The Masquerade, the classic that changed role-playing games forever, returns in a fifth edition! V5 features a streamlined and modern rules design, beautiful new full-colour art, and a rich story experience for new and returning players.
Powered by the innovative Hunger cycle, the game also includes rules for creating system supported character coteries, Loresheets to directly involve players with their favourite parts of the setting, and Memoriam, a new way to bring the character's detailed backgrounds and expand on them in-session."
Pre-orders for the new book go live on Saturday 28th April and the game will start to hit your tabletops in August and September with more books coming out towards the end of the year.
"V5 is the foundation of our efforts to make Vampire: The Masquerade and the World of Darkness a global phenomenon, and one of the world biggest entertainment IPs”, says White Wolf CEO Tobias Sjögren. “We are incredibly proud of what the amazing team working on V5 have achieved and we are really looking forward to working with Mödiphious getting this product in the hands of old as well as new Vampire fans."
Modiphius will be offering up...
- Vampire: The Masquerade V5 Core Book
- Anarch Sourcebook
- Camarilla Sourcebook
- Official V5 Dice Set
- V5 Storyteller Screen
- V5 Notebook
I played a lot of Werewolf: The Apocalypse as a teenager but we did do a fair few sessions of Vampire: The Masquerade. It had a very different feel to Werewolf (as you might imagine) and was more about intrigue than tearing things in half. I am interested to see what they do with this going forward as World Of Darkness certainly informed me about a different style of role-playing game away from dungeon crawling and dice chucking.
Will you be getting the V5 book?

Stayed tuned for a Darker Days Radio review when we get it!
White Wolf and Vampire the Masquerade really changed roleplaying for me – and so I’ll always be grateful and have fond memories. My greatest Vampire games – and characters – were from live action games, but I played in some great tabletop games too. And ran a cyberpunk-ish, post-Apocalypse game of Werewolf: the Apocalypse too. That was the game where I really felt I found my Games Mastering style. I never really had many of the books for any of the games though sadly. I’ll have a look at this new edition with interest.
This is a game that’s always danced around the peripherals of my interest. There seemed to be such a wealth of books for it that I never knew where to start. This might finally be a good point to get started.
Can anyone tell me is Vampire purely a standalone game or designed to be mixed in with the likes of Werewolf and Mage or the other titles in the World of Darkness? Or am I way off and they’re all completely separate?
They do crossover. In the past not that well. Chronicles of Darkness incarnations of the settings have always been compatible. For 5th Ed this is a complete system rebuilt so being compatible will be baked in.
Anyone remember the TV show?
That illustrates to me the strength of the franchise. Great material.
You can get the dvd boxed set of Kindred the Embrace.
Well that’s interesting news.
