You can now pre-order a new starter set and gamebox for those wanting to get into the new edition of Seb Games' Urban War. The set contains everything that two players need to get started with this classic Sci-Fi skirmish game.

3rd Edition Gamebox - Urban War

3rd Edition Gamebox // Urban War

For those not aware of Urban War...

"Urban War is a fast-paced sci-fi skirmish game set in a brutal far-distant universe. Players build small teams of soldiers to fight in the war-torn city planet of Iskandria, the scene of countless vicious conflicts between competing factions, now also threatened by aggressive alien incursions. Urban War is a tabletop game for two or more players. The individual model and experience-based system enable various tactical choices as you develop your teams to suit your play style and strategies."

This particular Gamebox comes with two complete balanced forces for the Viridians and the Junkers as well as two brand-new special characters. On the Viridian side, you have the hardcore Colonial Marines.

The basic Colonial Marines come backed up by some extra firepower in the form of the Colonial Marine HGR.

If this faction has got you interested, here's a bit more of their background thanks to the folks at Seb Games...

"The Viridian home planet Viridia lies at the core of a mighty commercial empire. Proclaiming its dedication to free trade, democracy and ecologically sustainable industries, the Viridian government is not above using its powerful armed forces to ensure that its policies are enforced. These forces rely on overwhelming superior firepower and prefer not to engage in wars of attrition. High levels of troop losses are frowned on back home, and can lose votes with the electorate."

The Viridians are backed up by one of those brand-new special characters. Major Lilliane Ironburn joins the fighting with some rather high-tech weaponry.

On the other side of this conflict, you have the Junkers. At the core of the Jukers faction are their shield-toting Convict Legionaries.

Their special weapon is the Convict Legionary Lancer. They are very different in theme and style from the Viridians so it should make for a fun clash on the tabletop between you and a friend.

If you'd like to know more about the Junkers, here's some of their lore from Seb Games...

"From Ironglass, the Junker home planet, the Senate rules the militaristic Junker Empire with brutal authority. In Junker politics and society power is everything, all else is a means to this end. Though political alliances within the Senate may shift, and individual Senators rise and fall, the Junker Empire presents an aggressive and united face to the other major powers."

Leading the way for the Junkers is the awesome new Decurion Drusus who drives home that Sci-Fi gladiator feel to the faction.

All of the miniatures in the new set are in SioCast and will require a little bit of cleaning with a knife and file. As well as the miniatures, the new set also comes with a free copy of the 3rd Edition Rulebook (softcover) as well as Counter and Tokens sheets. You will also get two Quick Reference Sheets (good!) and two dice. It's a great way for you to get started with Urban War.

Additional Starter Options

If you'd prefer to dive in with one of the other factions from the world of Urban War, you can also get the Full-Force 300 Series boxed sets from Seb Games.

These sets have been designed for you to take the next step into Urban War. They give you a well-balanced 300-point army for your standard-size games of Urban War. This will give you ALL of the miniatures you need to get playing right away. These are great for newcomers and they could be a good way for a veteran Urban War general to try out a new faction.

It's great to see Seb Games bringing back some proper classic games and that Urban War is getting a new life, perhaps with an entirely new audience.

Are you going to be trying Urban War?
