Weekender: Talking Kickstarter With Massive Awesome & Micro Art Studio
February 6, 2016 by warzan
Welcome to a bumper Weekender where we have not one but two interviews for you along with a special prize...
Massive Awesome's Shattered Earth
We'll be chatting with Massive Awesome who have been writing out Road To Kickstarter series. We'll be discussing Shattered Earth, which will be looking for funding this month, and much more besides.
You could also be in with a chance of winning a Pro-Painted Shattered Earth miniature by Awaken Realms by commenting on Beasts Of War, Youtube or Facebook.
What To Look Out For...
Here's some things you don't want to miss...
- The Walking Dead: All Out War - Mantic's Kickstarter is doing great guns so watch out for it if you're interested in zombie awesomeness.
- Hobby Lab - Catch up on both our Threshed & Ploughed Fields episode AND the new Modular Security Fence show too (Backstage Pass Required).
- Hobby & Painting Forum - Head on over to our forums and watch to see if you get picked for the front page next week.
We also have some new articles hitting the website next week looking at modern wargaming and airbrushing so keep an eye out.
Micro Art Studio's Infinity Kickstarter
We sit down for a chat with Micro Art Studio to discuss their upcoming Kickstarter to fund a range of Infinity terrain. This sounds like it could be a good option for those folks looking to build a fantastic tabletop for less.
Antenocitis' Infinity Game Box
Antenocitis are also on Kickstarter right now to fund their Infinity Game Box which is a perfect way to transport all your tokens, dice, cards, templates and more. It also works as a great way to slot your media devices into game preparation too.
They have also designed a superb dice roller that doubles up as a terrain piece AND some astoundingly beautiful Sun Tzu themed templates.
Flocking Demo
Last but not least we get Justin to flock his Ogres for Kings of War. We'll be demonstrating how to do it and also looking at some of the nice tufts you can get from Army Painter.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Weekend!!
I would love to paint the mini within a mini, but in resin, with that figure, I would be a little afraid it would break if used on the table. But really, the sculpt is gorgeous.
I’ve been chucking my copy of Jormungandr round a table for a month now without any problems. I think because of the full digital production, the keys fit perfectly and the model is nice and solid.
That’s good to hear. It is really an astounding sculpture.
Happy weekend
Happy weekend dudes. Had a great few games of Infinity last night finishing up at 1:30am. Actually won for once, looking forward . O a great weekender with you guys and the Bow lads.
…good for you!
Well… Dang. My wallet is gonna hate me even more. I am so looking forward to Shattered Earth. I would love to see more mythical creatures from the Deathless. With all the different mythologies and folk lore from around the world give endless possibilities.
Is it just me that panics whenever @warzan handles delicate looking minis?
I, for one, would not want to see him make his way through a china shop.
Ha! It’s good for us though as repeated dropping proves that our minis are pretty sturdy despite all the delicate details.
If they survive a warzaning they’re pretty much indestructable.
I did wince a couple of times when those lovely minis took a wee knock but I am quite certain they have a sealer to protect. Too beautiful to even imagine chipping… 🙁
The Cracked Earth’s concept of character story evolution and scenario based content is a big plus for me. I tend to lay out the reasons and the purpose for the win and fighting over two armies clashing. Definitely, looking into it for more info.
Sorry that’s Shattered Earth.
And the Infinity Box is quite good too.
A weekend at last were there is no tournaments or any thing to keep me running around
It’s the weekend! Looking forward to a bumper-birthday weekend, although at my age that feels a bit childish eagerly anticipating having to unwrap boxes of toy soldiers!
Oh dear… There goes my resolution! Sometimes it’s the game first then the models, but in the case of Massively Awesome sculpts like that that I simply have to have then the fact that the game sounds fun comes as a plus!
Felt the same way too. All just sounds too good to miss. 🙂
Good looking minis not a real fan of those griblies
So the Massive Awesome guys were saying it’s a skirmish game, but how much can it scale up? I like skirmish games, but at a certain point of collection I’d love to get a massive force to play with.
We’ve been playtesting it with up to 12 minis per side but the aim is to balance the units so that you can scale up to at least double or triple that and still keep the gameplay slick.
An interesting and great looking game. Seems the guys have put a lot into the minis and background and it was obvious Warren had a great time. @warzan you guys definitely need a hand model without the ‘drop it’ gene 🙂
Bring back the swingometer
Wow! The box from Antenocity looks amazing, a real innovation. I hope they branch out into other rule sets as I don’t play Infinity.
And just when I thought that was going to be the stand out product on the show you bring out those minis from Masive Awsome. Excellent s sculpts from a new company, well done guys!
Also … congratulations to @warzan for finally persuading @dignity to base his KOW troops.
I’d love a pro-painted mini such as that. These guys have a wonderful world and some fantastic minis. I am particularly interested in the Humanist Revolution faction, but the Pan-Asian looks quite cool as well.
Those Shattered Earth minis are great. This is a game that’s now on my radar.
Shattered Earth- yes please, this is one KS I’ll be looking out for from day one! The guys have really impressed me with the depth of preparation they’ve put into it and presented themselves in a way that inspires confidence that so many other companies seem to lack. These guys are showing the way it should be done and obviously don’t take us gamers for granted.
Thank you for the kind words! We’ve been hobbyists for many, many years and have backed tons of Kickstarters ourselves. We know what we like to see in a Kickstarter campaign and what we find frustrating, so hopefully we can meet or exceed your expectations!
So many good kickstarters. My wife is gonna murder me!
It’s turning into a brutal February with Twisted, The Walking Dead, and Shattered Earth.
What with Parallax and the Shield-Maidens Reboot aswell as Pledge Manager time for Warpath and Dropfleet my budget is straining – so I’m not complaining when work asks me to do some extra shifts here and there….
woohoo the weekend have a Happy weekend everyone
Oh wow! What awesome figures, I will be kick starting Shattered Earth for sure, just for the figures, anything else is a bonus. Warren, a centurion figure with a ‘BOW 100’ in-scripted shield by the same guys for the 100 club would be something I would happily pay for.
I pledged the Walking Dead kickstarter. Kind of excited about it to say the least.
The hobby labs in backstage are worth the subscription alone with the money they save you 🙂
Great show guys, loved the Shattered Earth miniatures, bags of character.
shattered earth minis look Massive Awesome 8).
Weekender is back!
