Let’s Play: The Undercity Board Game
July 25, 2016 by lloyd
We're heading down into the bowels of the Iron Kingdoms greatest cities as we get stuck into a Let's Play for Privateer Press' The Undercity.
In this video we're trying out the first mission, as our intrepid adventurers will be looking to make contact with one of their local agents.
Unfortunately he has met an untimely end and it's up to our heroes to grab the information and escape before they are left dead in the gutter themselves!
Would you like to see us play more?

really fun game guys,
two things I’m with Lloyd on the villain picking Justin, both on 6 health, but Lloyd’s 6 was 100% while Justin’s was a pathetic 85% of his health 😉
Secondly Justin, 15 – 8 = 7, +1 to beat is a 8 not a 9, I think you had a blind spot for that a few times matey 🙂
What! You mean we could of had moooore loot?
keeerching!
All the loot
Whose side is Lloyd on? Seems to be spending most of the time trying to noble Justin?
Poor Justin.
Nothing more annoying than two jokers who want to make fun while you’re trying to be serious.
//
So the spies were using
*puts sun glasses on*
a ‘dead drop’ …
*yeeehaaww…*
“two jokers who want to make fun” – Is that not the whole point of playing a board game together to have some fun?
I’m not sure I’d want an hour of serious.
Serious business only. 😉
I could tell, that was your serious face after all
Compared to almost any other demo on this site this one wasn’t of the standard I had become used to.
Yes, Warren & co can joke around but it usually doesn’t harm the presentation of the game.
This video looked like Justin was trying to teach a game to two people who wanted to be somewhere else. The only thing missing was them using their phones to text their friends or play games …
But we’re not allowed phones in the studio.
Lol
And that’s a really good thing … :p
Having fun is serious business after all.
@lloyd: you are aware that this is a team game right? :p
This is great. Nice work chaps.
The first time I’ve seen this game played, looking good.
Lloyd enjoys playing the villains a bit too much. I think he secretly wants to be an evil overlord.
On a sidenote, he should also work in sound effects for horror movies. 🙂
If you did find an egg timer on the side quest, what use could that be in future missions, any ideas??
And please no humour during a battle report as its spoils the seriousness.
Not much I guess, but you never know we might find a massive egg, it would be very handy then 🙂
I think we are going to play Spartacus next so I wouldn’t hold out for any seriousness in that.
You could attach it to one of your grenades as a medieval type timer, just have to hope the enemy turns up at a predefined time.
Oh my god. Class that needs to be worked in lol
Excellent work anyway, please do more using this format.
@lloyd: I don’t think mamma dragon is going to be too happy with you boiling her eggs :p
Geese, someone was channeling his inner Richard. And a deaf one at that, or, at least inattentive. Maybe, from what has been mentioned about Big Daddy Warren, it runs in the family.
This demo makes me want the game even more now. But, I guess, with planning to paint the figures, I’d have to paint the bases for the red and blue villain types.
I love this content format – would love to see more games or missions done this way. I’d love to see you guys take a crack at silver tower, deathwatch overkill, calth or Dungeon Saga in this formmat
I have Dungeon Saga 😀
I’d love to see a lets play with Dungeon Saga – the demo game that @warzan did for Mars Attacks completely sold me on the game. Zombicide works well when I have seen other channels do this Dungeon Saga is the only one of the ones that I listed in the first post that I don’t already have
I’m sure this is very much a marmite thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed Lloyd in this Let’s Play. Truly enthusiastic and quite right that the contact writing the plan downs and getting killed makes bad plan to keep those plans secret. The contact might has well just met in a pub to make the exchange.
I personally would like seeing more battle reports featuring Lloyd in addition to generally seeing more battle reports.
@blaeyn not necessarily, do tham as per the artwork. Or:

I swear on my mother’s empty grave, BOW Lloyd looks crazier and crazier with each video.
@brianfowler713: should we be concerned that you’ve already dug a grave for your mother in preparation?
;p
You have to get those grave sites when you can. It’s not like housing where you can hope the current tenant hopes to sell and move on you know…
Yeah thanks @brianfowler713 it’s all in the facial gestures, that’s the key 🙂
No pre-filming imbibing was involved?
Lloyd , well done dropping star wars into warmachine .
which is of course the right thing to do.
@emptynessisform 😉 there’s always time for Star Wars.
That reminds me, the Star Wars Imperial Assault Game might work for this format too. I got it for Christmas, and haven’t really had it out of the box – might be the inspiration I need.
There’s no need to drop any warmachine into it though…:)
This was great hope to see more!
is there more adventures or just shooting and killing kind of stuff?
There’s more adventures later in the quest lines 🙂
Damn, I discover this with Mansions of Madness 2nd ed and No Mans Sky to pay for. Going to have to wait a week or two, but I can’t wait to grab this.
Good game! I also have it but only got playing the first mission so far. I’d say that this is the case with a lot of people.
@redshane how did it go for you, did you get the plans and earn much xp?
