Kings of War Beta Update & Box Sets
October 12, 2010 by lloyd
We got time to visit Mantic HQ on our trip over to England and thought it would be great to get a catchup with Ronnie and Alessio about how the Beta went and some new Kings of War Box Sets.
For more on Kings of War visit the Kings of War section here on Beasts of War.

i love u guys
Just a suggestion BoW, why not open an online shop? Sell Mantic, Warmachine, Ex Illis and the like. And T-shirts of course 😛
I can’t wait for Kings of War to be let loose in my local shops!
Sorry Tarragon… the only thing we sell is the hobby! 😉
Dude a store is a ton of work. These guys are still getting the site up and running and some of their segments back up( on the table). I’m sure they might do tshirts but I don’t know if they want to get into the online miniature store market. After all this hobby is always growing but their are already so many online stores for this stuff.
I personaly realy like the fact that BoW suports other online stores on there web site. Such as Mini War Gameing (Canada and UK) And Wayland Games.
Ronnie mentioned using armies from other games and converting them into a usable Kow army list.
Were and how do I submit a hopeful cross-over army list for feedback.
I would love to be able to use my Lizardmen in this game.
Until there’s something official, feel free to use our groups here.
You’ll get plenty of feedback if you publicise your group.
Good news, someone posted an unofficial Lizardmen list on this site 🙂

Some one did? I wonder who did that? 😉
Besides there’s little enough room at the BoW offices without stockpiling for a stall. Can’t move for models, projects in work and really random things just lying around. Like Darrel haha. But hey what can I say I just write.

Good work chaps
and good luck with the future of the game
Exciting times.
Really looking forward to the rules and new armies
The kids at the library have loved it so far.
Those boxed sets look soo tempting! 😀
enjoyed the interview
many thanks BoW
I haven’t felt so enthusiastic about a game in a long time.
I’m so glad to hear that they will be coming up “get you by” army lists and are open to people using existing armies. This will make me buy more Mantic miniatures as you have really though about your customers and are coming across as open, straightforward and enthusiastic about the hobby.
Well done and thank you.
Tony
i was looking for a fantasy wargame to get into other then warhammer40k, looks like i might have found it. going to call some gamestores in my area to make sure they have intrest, other then that i think ill feel comfortable with the rules (after reading the beta version and how each army takes individual turns). im a oldschool pc/console turnbased wargame nut so this should feel good. console and pc gaming is so impersonal ive been looking for a game to play with people face to face.
Deployment is on the clock as well!!!! BRILLIANT
Much as I love WHFB/Skaven I’ll be getting a KoW boxed set (when will the orcs be out Ronnie ;))
I’ve really got to applaude Matics effort to reinvent the mini gaming industry. It is encouraging to see something that takes so many established paradigms, such as rules and how marketing drives perceived cost of buying the models, and throws them out.
I can’t say which rule set I’ll use, that will be driven by my community, but I have and will have more these models in my armies.
I hope Mantic can keep this going and make it bigger. No one needs to be ruined by I think there could be a little bit of leveling in the market.
i woul piss with joy at an orc army.
x2. Well I’d be very pleased anyway.
Great vid coverage of my favorite Kings of War celebrities! Once again, well done Beasts of War! So glad you are supporting Mantic by giving them a chance to speak to us through your interviews and articles!

“Fist look…”
:]
I met Alessio at the Open Day… He’s a great guy. The funniest thing was when he moved units 1″ back after melee, he kept saying: “boink!” We stopped reminding him that it should be “boing” after a while…
I would prefer it if KoW didnt get anymore traditional races like Orcs, it already has elves, dwarves and undead but instead open it up to races that arent well known. I realise choosing the traditional races is safer but is it more fun?
I would also like it if you can combine races into armies, giving the combined armies advantages and disadvantages that are unique to their alliances. as i said before im more of a pc/console tbs gamer not tabletop, these are just my opinions please no shit storm.
Pretty sick. I’m not into the fantasy genre but I could see myself getting to this game in the future. Been browsin through the mantic website and I have to say I’m being swayed to the undead.
Are they ever going to release with a human faction?
great video, very cool insights to how the beta changed the game.
A buddy and I preordered the Mhorgoth’s revenge set a while ago…. can’t wait to get my hands on it!
I’d previously passed up mantic miniatures. Because I play Bretonnians in WFB and their models wouldn’t really work for them. But! all this has got me really interested! I might even fancy getting a dwarf army box. Thanks Mantic. Great interviews and the new game sounds awesome!
£40 BARGIN! Take That GW
After watching this video I’m going to pick up an undead army. I just want to thank Mantic and beastsofwar.com for doing videos like this, and fostering interest and community around a game. As an adult gamer with disposable income, I can’t game every night, but I love coming home from work and watching videos and hearing people talk about the games I’m interested in. Then I can buy the models, and have something to keep up interest as I paint them and wait for the weekend to play. Just all around great job. Great attitude, and I look forward… Read more »
