Stomping War Golems & New Gameplay Video For The Edge!
March 16, 2015 by brennon
Awaken Realms have put together a Gameplay Video showing off the basic mechanics of The Edge which is currently up on Kickstarter. On top of their video they also added some fairly epic looking models to the mix with a War Golem and some new poses for the Cultists...
Kicking things off we thought it best to focus in on how epic this War Golem looks. If you thought that size didn't matter I'd like to know what you think of that rather insane hammer that no doubt is ready to smite demons and make sure they stay down. If this comes off as a miniature then you're going to have quite the centrepiece in an army of centrepiece models.
I love how the Priest/Operator in the cabin at the top is so serene as he controls its motions and sends this War Golem into the heat of battle. It's a pretty insane creation that would be a worthy choice of any fanatical individual.
As well as the big, the small have also had their day. The Cultists have been upgraded with some new alternative animal heads allowing you to change up how they look and make them even more creepy for your opponent to face. I particularly like the one based on the bat with those tatty looking ears poking up out of its cowl.
Check out the gameplay video above!

That War Golem looks really good. Those cultists are rather good as well.
Super high tech golem with a hammer and claw… easily defeated by capping the driver with a Saturday night special. Geez.
There’s some really impractical stuff in there, which is a shame, as the sculpting is top notch. Love the angel, simply as a painting project.
Absolutely agree, think its a stunning model .. the high tech melee thing sure is getting old though.
Impractical???? ITS A FANTASY GAME , practical as opposed to marine armour that has a nuclear power source on its back….
I don’t play that, either @synthetic 🙂
So how do you know in this game the driver isnt covered by a forcefield…
They wouldn’t need one if everyone has melee weapons.
Well in Dune they use melee weapons but they also have forcefields so what synthetik wrote is not so outlandish.
Inventing forcefields that explode with the power of a nuke if hit by energy weapons makes no sense .. especially not when current weapon tech is at laser weaponry level. Dune makes very little sense in this regard imo, so id say melee was shoehorned in pretty badly by Frank.
… who needs practicality when you can have AWESOME instead 😉
… personally I think I’ll have mine with a side order of MIND BLOWING 😀 😀 😀
Good to see you back @motioninpoetry. Where you been?
oh, yeah I’ve just been crazy busy the last couple of months 😛
been working on some projects that have had campaigns recently, or that are starting soon 🙂
so I’ve just been a bit rushed off my feet lately 😛
which is quite good, because I really do like the ability to be able to buy food 😀 ha ha ha
it’s very valuable commodity for sculptors and artists 😀 ha ha ha
I like the war golem.
I personally think that sculpting upon all of this range is to be quite frank as good if not better than what was the best in it’s time Rackham. I am sorry I do not do kickstarter’s it’s a personal thing called complete lack of funds with which to fund. I do know a good-scratch that fantastic background story and have every intension of trying to get my hands on some of those miniatures. As for the compliant and unrealistic they should have this or that, is completely floor-less, surely people, we play with toys that are meant to represent… Read more »
@chrisg I completely agree with you. The sculpts are just amazing. I would love to have these. I know that my painting skills are not good enough yet to do these models justice. I would still get them but funds are tight right now. I think I will attempt to pick some up in the future as I see they are funded. Maybe by then my painting skills will be good enough.
There is actually a version with priest (driver) in full body armor 🙂
They look nice. As for it having melee weapons instead of ranged, it could be that the demons appear where they wish and having close quarter fighting weapons is viewed as a better choice. It could be reasoned also that being some sort of priestly order they may be inclined to choose weapons that express their faith. But yes rationale thought would be have ranged weapons for everyone.
if they are going to target an english speaking market then they really need to sort out the grammer and interpretation.
