Warlord Team Up With Sarissa For Railway Terrain
February 27, 2016 by brennon
If you're looking for a range of terrain to use for making a rail yard or a complex of rails throughout the countryside then see what you think of these kits, of which these are just a few, from Warlord Games and Sarissa Precision. They are great for setting up the perfect railway...
Trains
We'll start with some of the actual trains that you can pick up including this engine which has seen better days. I think this would be the perfect start for dreaming up a scenario where you fight for control of the railroad.
Following on from that we have some other neat train components including a Carriage, Flatbed and also a Crane.
I think these are good hardy piece of kit that would allow you to make some very interesting set-ups. I could see this turning into a warehouse district with plenty of rails criss-crossing around the place as the workers move heavy machinery and guns during World War II.
Buildings
As well as the actual vehicles and other components that sit upon the rails they also have a range of buildings which you can fight in and around. The first of these is this big sidings shed which is where the enemy might be storing a stock of ammo.
We also have the Signal Box which could be a good piece to use as a central objective. Your army have to get there and change the signals so the train either makes it or doesn't make it to their next destination.
You can see plenty more of their range on the links above.
What do you think of these pieces?

With a little modification and a bright paintjob, we could open up a new theatre of war: Battleground Sodor.
I now have visions of Thomas and friends pulling Big Bertha around and all the problems they’ll get into!
I don’t think Warlord have anything to do with this product apart from selling it. I already have 5 of the wagons built, and have been working on building a fiddle yard for gaming and display purposes. I purchased this directly from Sarissa and also Arcane Scenery and products.
They look like simple trains and cars, but that’s a good thing as painting can take loads of time. The simpler the faster it can be on the table.
I know about as much about trains as I do the life cycle of a nurse shark = absolutely bugger all. However to those out there that know of such things would this fit into a train for ww1 usage. Answers please on the train not the bloody shark LOL.
If the locomotive is based on the GWR 5700 series, which is the iconic pannier tank, they didn’t come into being until the late 20s, but the Great Western did have pannier tank engines before this. I’m not sure if any other regions of the U.K. used this type of design.
I’d have to look up books to see if the wagons were suitable for WW1. The brake van is very like an LNER design and the cattle truck as well but off the top of my head I couldn’t say if they are suitable.
