Village Ruins Unlocked For Battle Systems’ Terrain Kickstarter
July 2, 2019 by brennon
Battle Systems' newest campaign is going from strength to strength on Kickstarter and they have just unlocked an awesome bundle of extra terrain that helps you build dynamic and interesting tabletops; Ruins!
Check Out The Kickstarter Campaign
This is a set of Village Ruins to be more precise, allowing you to add some broken down versions of their existing buildings into the mix. This is perfect for those that want to battle through a location which has been ravaged by war. Maybe it's seen a dragon attack or two?
As well as the ruined buildings you also get all the extra bits and bobs for navigating these perilous structures like ladders and walkways. This should make for some dynamic gameplay on the tabletop as your adventures try not to fall to their death whilst having grim skirmishes.
You can see some more of the buildings worked into the existing range...
As you can see it works really well with the existing ruined structures, especially if you're going for the look of a town which has been utterly devastated by armies on the warpath. For anyone who liked Mordheim back in the day, this reminds me of the old Blood On The Streets set you could pick up.
Do you think you'll be diving in to back the Battle Systems Kickstarter as it looks towards its halfway point?

Great looking wartorn building’s but they look to clean.
I’d say there’s enough grim, dirt and burning on them to make it work.
Yes the good side is that you can personalize the damage like spraying garish colours from magic blasts or black from fire damage? @Brennon
They are just a bit bright for me. The only thing I would change is an overall darker tone to it all as they do stand out a bit much against the dark earth for ruined buildings. Would still love to play a game or photograph my minis on it as it is very a nice design and concept.
Middle School me would have probably died to play Mordheim on a board like that…
I was always mad at myself that I never bought the old Mordheim terrain. Now I don’t have to be!
That is some stunning looking terrain. Perfect for something like Mordheim or Warmahordes.
I went mad with Core Space so this one is too soon for me. Although the ruins set at 22 quid seem perfect for doing a game of old school Mordhiem or two.
One thing that IS tempting me however are the mats, they are doing “grassy” 2X2 mats in two variations and offer a set do do a 6X4 gaming table for 50 quid. One problem I’ve had with the neoprene mats when they are 6X4 is storage (as I still don’t like to fold them over the long term), 2X2 is small enough you can still store them flat.
Seven or so ruins for half the price of a 3D printer is a bit much for me, and 2.5 elements (eg. the gravestones) are better as miniatures, rather than cardboard pieces. OTOH, If you don’t like to paint or store stuff, this looks good.
