Tired World Studio Bring Dwarven Sky City Terrain To Kickstarter!
February 1, 2022 by brennon
Tired World Studio are a new company that has taken to Kickstarter with some absolutely stunning 3D Printable terrain. They are heading into the Steampunk skies with the Zilvren Skyhold, a brand new set of 28-35mm terrain for those wanting to build Dwarven structures in the clouds!

The terrain will be available from the Kickstarter in STL format only and, as mentioned above, is scaled to match well with 28mm wargames and those larger 35mm affairs too. The idea is that this terrain should allow you to make a cloud-wrapped Dwarven skyport where your warriors, traders and engineers can revel in their triumphs.

There are a number of fascinating pieces as part of this collection that not only serve a practical purpose but will also work as beautiful decorations for your tabletops. For example, nearly all of the terrain comes with large gantry areas meaning that your Dwarves (and others!) can wander across them in a gameable space.

You also then have large buildings like the Magnates Manor (above) or the Merchant House (below). They give things a lived-in feel and move the Zilvren Skyhold away from just being some military or industrial domain.

All of these terrain pieces could then sit nicely on the Sky Platforms that you can get as part of the Kickstarter. They have a great footprint for holding not just the buildings but also plenty of other paraphernalia too.

You also have bits and pieces which have been designed as focal points for the action.
Airship Refuelling Dock // Tired World Studio
You could imagine a band of Kharadron Overlords having to hold off a band of marauders that are trying to blow up their Airship Refuelling Dock for example. All of the pieces have been designed using the Open Lock system meaning that you can slot them together and enjoy an element of modularity with the designs.
Additionally, they have also been designed for FDM printing so bear that in mind. The pieces have been tested using a Prusa mk3 i3 and an Elegoo Saturn so that should give you a helpful guide.
This should also give you a good idea of the kind of scale that the team are working with. Some pretty towering pieces, which is quite fitting for Dwarven engineers!

There is plenty more for you to check out as part of the Kickstarter campaign. Loads of additional scatter pieces are part of the collection and much more is being introduced through the Stretch Goals they have unlocked.
This terrain would work very well for those who wanted to make a themed board around the Kharadron Overlords of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. You could also use these for a bit of Steampunky fun away from the theme of Dwarves. I doubt it would take much to tweak the iconography on the buildings to make them more generic for all manner of Pulpy adventures.
Are you tempted to give this new team a go on Kickstarter as part of this campaign?

That looks cool… reminds me a lot of “bioshock infinite”
they look cool, but why in dark lords’ name is this a kickstarter? They’re literally STL files, what ARE they kickstarting?
Awareness of the product, options for bringing in more funding for future projects, a chance to gauge community reaction in a larger environment – lots of people do digital-only Kickstarter projects.
oh, so it’s not a kickstarter at all, it’s just using KS as a free preorder/publicity platform, got it.
Lovely looking terrain an a fab paint job to get folks interested to their new product’s.
Those are some great looking terrain pieces. Tali-ho!
I still find it odd a race underground are so happy in the sky. That said I really like these I am all for games having really houses and buildings not broken ruins or large factory complex all the time.
I REALLY need these! Not a big fan of the dwarven iconography, but the more generic “gaslight” style works great to build a sprawling steampunk city for Warmachine, Wild West Exodus, or Age of Sigmar.
