Tiny Wargames Head To Kickstarter With New Rubber Battlemat
June 9, 2015 by brennon
Tiny Wargames will be heading to Kickstarter with their range of Rubber Battlemats that come in a variety of different designs and sizes. If you would like an immediate battlefield then mats are always a good shout...
The mats come in sizes ranging from 3x3, 4x4 and 6x4 for when you need a massive battlefield. As you can see below the detail on the mats is crisp and clear with some interesting narrative elements to it which is always nice.
Other Landscapes
It's not just the urban landscape that is catered to by this campaign however and they have also looked as far away as deep space for their mats. See what you think of some of the other designs below...
I think the desert one, as bland as it first might appear, is actually one of the coolest they do alongside the snow one. I always liked the idea of fighting battles out in the snow as it gives everything a very stark contrast. I could see that space mat being perfect for the likes of Firestorm Armada especially.
What do you think of Tiny Wargames' offerings?

I quite fancy a 3’x3′ grass mat… I think I’ll back this one!
They look nice.
But I can see that they have the warhammer name in the blurb. Not smart.
they all look brilliant love the city map.
Hi, we have removed the WH reference, cheers
Similkar looking ats pre-ordered at similar prices to what’s already out there… Am I missing something?
thick rubber like no other!
These mats looks very nice!
Mats are great, I already own the top one 🙂 Can’t fault the quality at all.
I do like the look of these, and that city design just made me think of how awesome a Dropzone Commander 10mm scale urban mat would be – would certainly pledge for one of those. Off to take a look now!
@tinywargames Two questions for you. First, can you tell me more about the material? It looks similar to the kind of lino I might put down on my bathroom floor. How does it compare with the more mouse-mat like material seen on Mantic’s mats? (e.g. how well does it grip the table surface? Is it lighter / heavier? More or less prone to creases and curling?)
Secondly, the KS page doesn’t mention the shipping costs unless I’m being blind. Is shipping included in the pledge levels or is it extra?
I can’t comment on the material, but to find out the shipping costs on Kickstarters now you have to click the pledge button, and it pops up with the price and shipping. Then if you want it, you pledge; if not, just close the pop up box. It’s a bit awkward I think, but that’s how Kickstarter is doing it now.
My group have been looking for better options for dropzone commander, this may be it the Cityscape and Ruinscape are cool, but the tiles move too much. A good mat option is really needed
HI the mats are like lino 3mm thick, smooth and high quality prints, easily roll up and wont crease. Very durable, Roll very flat.
Have already requested a dropzonemat, they are looking into it 🙂
If you want a real view of the mats, here’s my mat in Wrath of Kings action:
I’ve got one of their mousepad rubber mats recently – 4 x 8 feet, double-sided with grassy meadow on obverse, semi-desert on reverse. I can’t praise it high enough; it lies flat, feels good to the touch, has persuaded me to upgrade all my bases (about 75% done at time of writing), and has a very acceptable fineness of printing. The company were friendly and efficient all the way too.
