New Terrain Coming This Week For Age Of Sigmar
July 29, 2015 by brennon
Some new terrain is coming for Age of Sigmar by Games Workshop. These two new pieces are the Numinous Occulum and Dragonfate Dais. While they are presented here among other leaks from the new White Dwarf HERE (thanks to Tabled Podcast) they have also been shown off in some stores so, here they are...
Architecture Of The Planes
These two structures are quite impressive and I think when combined with the existing terrain pieces will create an interesting tabletop for you to play your games of Age of Sigmar on. What the terrain does do is fit in better with the direction Warhammer was taking.
A lot of people had problems with the way the terrain sets were going for Warhammer, the Storm of Magic pieces in particular, but now they work within the background. With these twisted realms that are twisting and changing the buildings would be very odd as you can see here.
Replanting The Woods
This week also brings out the repackaged Dryads, Branchwraith and Treelord which had gone missing from the webstore over the past few days. I think these models still stand the test of time and it will be interesting to see if we do get a new Branchwraith or whether or not it will just be the same one in an old box.
If my housemate wasn't doing a Dryad army for Age of Sigmar then I would certainly be doing one. I love the idea of this dangerous forest coming to life to kill all interlopers.
What do you think of the new terrain?

The terrain is the only aspect of AoS that interests me. May actually pick up the arches today… if they’re in stock. Also, good to see that the dryads are sticking around. I have a wood elf brigade with a unit of those in it.
It would be a shame if they bundled it with that tree thing, thus forcing people to buy it to get the dryads.
These pieces looks amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on them.
hold on, there is a Troll among us! some guy is’ thumb down’ the previous two comments, just because the guys said they liked the new release…. well take that Troll: I absolutely love the new AoS release so far! 🙂
yea that has been happening a lot recently. I commented that I liked an AoS mini and I got downranked.
the Numinous Occulum has a dark crystal vibe to it, I like it
Yeah! I didn’t see it until you mentioned it. The planetarium thingy the one eyed witch had set up?
I no longer pay attention to what people think of my comments and without trying to speak for others (them that got thumbed down) I hope they pay no heed to them as you will always get naysayers.
I’m actually happy to see they and you @shyvax have gotten ups for pointing out the bad taste that had happened.
I will do a banishing ritual to get rid of that Troll as well just in case it comes back 😉
My son and i have a blast playing this game…….I look forward to the future of it and what it will bring.
That dragonfate dais looks really nice, good sets of terrain these
Great looking fantasy terrain pieces to use in Age of Sigmar and other fantasy games.
hmm, £5 increase on price of dryads, round bases are pricy!
Well that sucks! 🙁
Scratch that, it says you get 16 so thats 4 extra dryads compared to the old set so you in fact save a couple of quid. 😀
really? well in that case I apologise.
happy gaming
Based on the big hard cover AoS book it was pretty obvious the next narrative steps in the story are going to be Nurgle vs the Tree Folk in the realm of life. I like that they are moving a story forward rather than just spewing new and more expensive randomness.
In anticipation I already bought a second Treeman, some more dryads, a reaper dryad character for a hero fig, and an ultra forge tree woman. I only hope my painting can do it justice!
Oh, I like the sound of that! Just finishing off some Mantic wood elves for a project and am now considering options for treemen but the new GW ones are just a bit big for the job. Here’s hoping for some intermediate level woodland beast to go alongside the lovely dryads as a useful step-up.
And I can never resist a bit of of Nurgle!
If you’re looking for alternatives to the GW Treeman kit these might be of interest: GW Ent from the Hobbit range. Pricey but really nice plastic kit and its smaller than the treemen. I already mentioned Ultraforge. They make two tree folk resin figures. The female one is superb. The other one is well not to my taste but I’m sure some will like it. The old D&D prepainted mini sets had a Treant which you should be able to track down relatively inexpensive. They were quite common so there’s a lot still on the secondary market. They look pretty… Read more »
You’re right @koraski . The Ultraforge “Gaia” tree spirit is amazing, and quite large, if it’s the same one I’m thinking of. The Creature Caster sculptor? Still looking to get one, and it’s about the same price as the GW tree thing.
Thanks a lot @koraski – plenty of food for thought there. I do really like that ultraforge tree woman and will def look up the D&D prepaint (anything that can help get the project done so I can move on to something new is very welcome at this point!).
I’ve got to say I really like this new AoS inspired terrain on the whole. I can certainly see enough potential fantasy-wide uses for them to merit further investigation.
I really like these terrain kits. For some reason they have a little bit of a Warcraft 3 feel to them, and I think that is a rather good thing (I love that game and its expansion set to this day, and regularly replay them). On the subject of new releases, has anyone else seen the pictures of the new Protector/Retributor/Decimator kit? Here is a link to lady Atia’s new site and Gametrust:- http://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/ http://www.gamestrust.de/bilder,list1246,1,warhammer-age-sigmar.html I really like these new models. They look like serious business, as if they could take on whatever the dark gods throw at them and… Read more »
I love the AoS terrain so far. Not been thrilled with the stormcast aesthetics but I am looking forward to seeing the narrative play out and I’m hoping for fancy new kits for dark elves, wood elves, and undead.
the dragonfate tower looks nice.
Oh wow!! Loving the new scenery. It really sets up the narrative for AoS
