Take To The Streets With Deep-Cut’s Walking Dead Mats
January 29, 2017 by brennon
The team at Deep-Cut Studio has been working on some mats that are worthy of your Walkers from Mantic Games' Walking Dead. See what you think of these Town Mats...
You might well be wondering "but Ben, this just looks like one big mat!". Well, that's because this mat breaks down into 2x2 squares for you to play smaller games and then forms up together for a massive post-apocalyptic playground.
The cutting up of the mat will require you to get stuck into a bit of DIY however as you break out the cutting knife. But, hopefully, in the future we'll see the 2x2 sections offered up as additional options.
As usual, you can expect to pick up the mats in different materials from PVC, to mouse mat and get really stuck into some amazing design work which usually hides a few surprises here and there.
Will you be picking these up?

These look great, and the quality of the mats will be up to their usual standard. Interested to see how well all 6 tiles line up as experience tells me they won’t line up exactly perfect but with a bit of stretching the best mats can get close.
I would personally prefer it as one 6×4 mat, but that wouldn’t suit many others. Maybe they could offer both?
I like the flexibility of the smaller mats, I can see these being used in a variety of games.
Oh that is a nice idea, except for the railway track which always has to be in a corner , you have a lot of versitility,
Awesome been looking for a bigger mat for Walking Dead. Great timing!
But Ben this is just one big map that you can cut into smaller pieces yourself:
“the mat can be cut into 4 or 6 pcs of 2×2 mats using a hobby knife, cuing blade or scissors. Each of these 2×2 mats may align together to make various boards for large scale (2×4 size) games”
And that is something I personally wouldn’t try, I would be afraid to ruin the map and thought it would be a better idea just to sell the map also in pieces.
Sorry didn’t make that very clear in the post. Have rectified that.
The mats are not precut. I was reading on the deep cut website
At first glance it looks great but there is hardly anywhere you can place buildings.
This mat looks awesome, theres a few different systems that can be used with this. Thanks for sharing
looks good.
I expect to see this on Warren’s reviews shortly! 😉
