Dark Ops Show Off Upcoming Star Saga Game Tiles
September 30, 2016 by brennon
As part of the upcoming Star Saga Kickstarter campaign Dark Ops are going to be providing some new tiles for use in Mantic Games' Sci-Fi dungeon crawler...
You can see the tiles, painted, above showing the interior designs of the lab which is the focus of the story in Star Saga.
The details look great and it really steps things up to the next level when you have thicker tiles like this. When it comes to these tiles though, you will have to paint them...
Are you interested in delving into the Kickstarter and getting these as part of your pledged?
Let us know below!

They just don’t look like floor D=. They look like wall pieces.
In space every wall is a floor and every floor can be a wall 😉
Zero G combat
Man, it’s good to know mantic are wasting time on this crap rather than actually putting up the full rules.
Is mantic somehow involved with darkops?
They’re not. Dark Ops is run by two guys, one of whom is known as “pezzapoo” on Youtube.
How doooo!!!!
No, but I would suspect the point of this is to include it as an ‘add-on’ in the campaign.
I don’t think so. They make scenery for DZC, Frostgrave, Dungeon Saga and others. They haven’t been co-opted yet by a company to work officially in partnership but as Pezzapoo is something of a Wargaming insider, and a thoroughly decent chap, I imagine the games makers are perfectly happy to see him flourish. Plus, the insider knowledge he hears about means he can have things ready to coincide with the peak publicity of a miniature game/range. In any event, this terrain will not be part of the Kickstarter as Mantic have had no role in its creation. Wishing Pezzapoo all… Read more »
We have a working partnership with Mantic to produce tie-in products for their IP.
I don’t think Mantic are wasting time on this. I think they have probably asked Dark Ops to produce some HDF tile pieces to be sold as an Add On. I would guess the work overhead on Mantic is minimal at worst and none existent at best
thanks haha, It may not be to everyones taste however we had good feedback from previewing them at Derby this weekend. They are an Add On: and therefore not needed to play the game, but they do exist for those that want them. Also Mantic wasted no time on these as we do all CAD and production in house.
In space walls floors and ceilings are often one and the same…
I like ’em, but the grey floors are the best, IMO.
nice, may be better if they were a standard size so they can slot together better in any direction.
Might have to do some sums for this to see if I can afford it. It will depend on what expansions, if any, they decide to release for it. I have a budget in mind that I’m prepared to pledge and will need to see what I can fit into it. I won’t be going for the resin miniatures unless they offer resin miniatures that don’t appear in the game or expansions (like the Resin Legendary Heroes for Dungeon Saga) so at the moment there’s no add-ons I’m particularly interested in which means I potentially have a lot of spare… Read more »
They do look nice. Will it get me into another game? Not really. I have enough on my hands at the moment. They still look nice none the less.
I see this and think Infinity RPG. …
They look a lot nicer than cardboard tiles but would prefer them to have some walls to go with them for added cinematic effect.
I guess they can be combuned with battlezone tiles – for the walls. amazing!!!
Hmmmmm still not convinced. The floors just dont do it for me. Better than the card ones on the KS but still lacking in appeal.
Still keeping an eye on the KS, but even if this were introduced as a stretch or add on, it still wouldn’t hook me into joining.
I think they need more texture, but that would probably affect the cost with an individual piece taking longer to cut.
They might want to try a different paint scheme while they would probably be white, the black / grey piece looks more like a piece of floor.
There is a lot of etch work on the tiles and tbh you can paint them how you like, we just painted to the artwork we were sent for the card stock. I personally like the grey myself, also the white and red.
Bit premature if you ask me…..Mantic have already said in the KS that the tiles are being looked at due to feedback…..so they’ll probably change…maybe not enough to make these completely different….but they won’t look like the tiles currently on there.
Ow do, We were asked by Ronnie to create these as an add on for the KS and they are exact copies of the artwork for the card stock including this paint scheme, there are 19 other tiles due to be drawn up which we don’t have yet and they do lock together the same as the DS tiles as they are the same form factors. Thanks for looking and commenting as always, stay frosty guys )
More fab stuff from Dark Ops … although their DZC stuff is still their best stuff… lol
hah thx man
☺
