Saxon Miniatures Makes It Easy To Build Your Own Dark Age Village
December 7, 2016 by stvitusdancern
Saxon Miniatures has created a series of moulds that allow you to make your own dark age village.
The Thorfinstead Bundle is a set of moulds that allows you to cast your own buildings and other terrain items from stone cast plaster. The Set includes a Timber Longhouse,
Wattle & Daub House...
Small Wattle & Daub House, Small Timber Outhouse, Wooden Fences...
Palisades...
Timber Walkways...
...and Trade Goods.
There is quite a bit of variety and you can create yourself a nice Viking village in no time for your next battles of SAGA or other games set in this time period. You could even use them to create a village in a fantasy setting. It is in 28mm scale and will work nicely with most ranges of miniatures.
While 3D printing is coming on strong, as for now there is not a replacement for the speed and ease of casting your own terrain. If you or your club is looking for a way to make terrain this just might be an option.
Have you tried casting your own terrain?

I have a couple of hirst arts moulds, even got some plaster for it, but never got around to actual casting!
These buildings would be cool for a Rohan village, also all those Dark Age games I dont play, but want to play!
I’ve been really tempted for some of the Hirst molds. But the postage fees pur me off. 🙁
Have some Saxon miniatures and they are lovely, this terrain looks great as well.
There is a deal at the moment on the set which would be pretty good value if you’re going for a number of villages and economies of scale
the village looks great and can be made to the size and shape required with the moulds.
