Add Sarissa’s Odiham Castle To Your Historical Wargames
January 11, 2021 by brennon
Sarissa Precision has added two new terrain sets to their webstore for pre-order which might be fun for Historical wargamers looking at the Medieval period and as far back as the Dark Age. We start with Odiham Castle from the year 1215!

With The Barons' War making its way onto tabletops soon from Footsore Miniatures & Games this would be the perfect place to situate your games. This is quite a big piece but it would be a great place to imprison a king, sign the Magna Carta, repel a French siege or maybe even just scuffle in the courtyard?
This kit comes with multiple levels for you to explore and seems like it would be a great fortification to situate in and amongst a selection of Medieval buildings. You can see how it stacks up against some buildings and miniatures here.

I do like big statement pieces like this, especially if you're really drawn to a particular period of history. Whilst this is definitively Odiham Castle, it would be good to use this in alternative settings too and you could easily do a bit of tweaking here and there in order to make that work.
Dark Age Castle Keep
For example, maybe you want to drop this into a Dark Age setting?
Dark Age Castle Keep // Sarissa Precision
This is a massive new collection from Sarissa Precision which adds the Odiham Castle kit into a larger set which can be used in a setting more fitting for the Normans and such. This set comes with...
- Odiham Castle 1215
- Norman Manor House
- Timber-Frame House/Workshop
- Cart Barn/Forge/Stable
- Ox Cart
- Well & Stocks
- Gibbet
- Wooden Palisade Wall (Straight)
- Wooden Palisade Watch Tower (Straight)
- Wooden Palisade Gate
- Wooden Palisade Corner
- Wooden Palisade Stairs
This seems like a massive project to undertake but once it's done this would effectively become your tabletop for playing games on!

I'm sure that this will be either an impressive and exciting task for someone or something that you'd dread seeing pop up on your painting table. I think if you took it slowly and maybe worked with a friend or two you'd have this coming together in no time!
Are you liking the look of Odiham Castle?
