Sarissa Precision Make A Stone House Into A Civil War Hospital
September 1, 2018 by brennon
One of the more recently kits from Sarissa Precision is this awesome Manassas Stone House. If you don't know about this particular building, it rose to fame during the American Civil War when it was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers.
There was not one but two different battles fought around Manassas and the house saw action in both. During the first battle, it was even consistently peppered with incoming fire despite the fact that they flew flags out of the windows to indicate that it was a place of respite.
It was busy throughout the battle and unfortunately, there was just one surgeon on hand who was young and inexperienced. More bodies lay on the ground, some wounded, some dead, compared to those who were undergoing treatment.
The state of the house did not change during the second battle and after the Civil War, it was taken up by new owners. It now sits as a monument to this period of American history and still sees visitors arriving at its doors during tours of the battlefields.
What do you think of the building as a terrain piece?

That is one good looking building for tabletop.
This one is looking like a must buy – iconic building in battles seemingly overlooked and rarely examined in any great detail over this side of the pond. Shame, the 2nd Bull Run/Manassas was won through some tremendous manoeuvring akin to the kind of thing you saw during the 7 Years War in Europe. Fascinating. Shamed to say my interest has only peaked recently reading Bernard Cornwell’s Starbuck Chronicles – cracking set of books and the battles of Manassas feature heavily.
Fabulous looking building The destroyed plantation house would be great For any table.
Pretty good likeness. If they could sell an ad-on kit for the traffic light and 4 lane road in the front yard, that would be awesome.
Might make centerpiece for a diorama set-up?
