Pre-order 4Ground’s Masterful Dark Age Norse Dwellings
May 2, 2014 by brennon
4Ground have two more piece of Dark Age Terrain up on their webstore to bring your Norse settlement look a bit more lived in. See what you think of the Trader Shop and Dwelling...
First up we have this amazing looking Trader Shop that, as with pretty much all of their terrain, can be played around with inside as well. They have gone into so much detail with these buildings and I'd imagine most of it is as historically accurate as you can get. It's an amazing place to have a scuffle.
Maybe you want to instead pick up a few of these Norse Dwellings to create a bigger settlement for you to explore? Once again these have a massively high standard of craftsmanship and even the roof with that thatch material looks brilliant.
I reckon you could stow some poor farmers in here and get your opposing Viking warband to raid this so they can carry them away back to the longships.
Awesome, very awesome.

Aha! Now that Season 2 of “Vikings” has started on this History Channel, I must once again resist the urge to plunge into a huge Dark Ages-Viking themed campaign. And damn it, awesome terrain and buildings like this are not making it any easier! 🙂 What IS that roof made out of? Brennon says “thatch material …” is that actually some kind of fabric / fiber?
Looks like shaved faux teddy bear fur
Yep I checked on Facebook and the roofing material is actually Teddy bear fur as you say @torros 😀
These are some amazing buildings and I was looking over their Dark Age section for a good few minutes – their Longhouse is ace.
Also @oriskany Viking Season II is awesome. I’ve been watching it err…somehow…and it’s just got better from Season I. Season III is also planned 🙂
I hope there are no bald teddy bears out there who sacrificed their fuzz for these buildings. Perhaps these buildings should come with a disclaimer: “No Teddy Bears Were Harmed in the Construction of Viking Longhouses.” 🙂
And I got the Season I for Vikings on DVD for Christmas, getting ready to jump into Season II (will probably watch all at once one Saturday or another). 😀
@oriskany After you put the teddy bear fur on the roof you cover it in PVA glue. It takes a couple of days to dry out. When it has it makes for very realistic thatch.
Doesn’t hurt to give it a bit of a comb as well once the PVA is on
Awesome! Thanks.
Beautiful terrain pieces.
I have watched all of Season 1 ‘Vikings’. Interesting series.
Well as I have a mate into Saga I guess his birthdays and Christmas are sorted.
May even have a crack at the game myself thanks to 4ground and their terrain.
Vikings has given me an itch for Saga, I am try to fight it but fear my will is not strong enough
Battle Troll is worth a look as well

Delved a little deeper into Saga and I really like the Jomsvikings, prepare yourself wallet, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Poor wallet. Ready to feel some pain. 🙂
