Cigar Box Battle the makers behind the game mats made from fleece cloth in many different styles of landscapes. Well now, they have come out with a range new mats made of a plush material which could simulate taller grass and vegetation.
We own one of the Frozen Ruins Mats to use with Frostgrave and it is really nice to lay out and place some ruins on.
You can even place some foam underneath the mats to produce different elevations on your tabletop. In the video, they even demonstrate how you could make tank tracks across the battlefield. Currently, the new plush mats are available in four different styles: Mixed Grounds, Field of Battles, Grasslands, and Just Fields.
The quality is very nice and makes a nice option when you want to throw down for a quick battle. The added surprise benefit? When you are curled up in the corner in the fetal position after your opponent destroys your army, you can always wrap up yourself in your mat and use it as a Combat Woobie.
What do you think of this style of mat?

I didn’t realise until now that a Combat Woobie is probably what’s been missing from my gaming for the past 30 years.
Actually, considering that at least 50% of miniature game players are losing at any one time, perhaps wargamer consolation products is a potential growth area of the industry? Dice bags that double as hand warmers, stone D20s you can heat up and use as bed warmers after the game. The possibilities are endless (and very cosy)!
mats that realistic you have to cut the grass? they look brill.
